Morning chaps!

For my 5 year work anniversary work have said they'll buy me anything up to the value of £1000... So, I was thinking of doing the Jonathan Palmer Race Day which is around a grand.

Before I pull the trigger on this I thought I'd ask if there are any other track experiences that are worth considering also?

TIA

Basically no. Palmer is the best of this kind of thing by a long way.

For a similar cost, depending on what you are looking for/experience, a friend did a full day, open pitlane type, trackday at Spa.

He use a racing team (Boss racing I think) who brought along a Caterham R400 and mechanics to ensure that all was good to go on the day - basically turning it into an arrive and drive experience.

Anything for a grand? Get them to buy you a cheap track car then you get loads of use out of it

Yea, I was kindo under the impression this was the case... Thought I'd ask about though!

This is interesting though... I just messaged Boss Racing to see what they can offer me for £1000. Thanks!

Thanks, but I have enough rust st boxes to worry about!

I was actually thinking of asking JP if they would swap the off-roading bit for some tuition in my own car......

Caterham hire for the day would be my choice.
Palmer is the only choice to consider if you really want to try different cars.

a good compromise would be a Palmer evening (single seater, LMP and Clios) and a track day too wink might have to add a few £ yourself though, or do a W2Race evening in Dony in a Ginetta.

Day at Silverstone driving all their cars was one of the best things ever imho. From memory about £900 per person albeit I can't find "driving all the cars" on their website any more ...

Nothing comes close to a Palmer sport day. I've done a few now and they just get better

I had a fabulous time on the Palmersport day, it is well worth doing particularly if someone else is paying. 100% pay for the flying lap in the JPLM car - very humbling indeed, unless you’re already a driving hero. We were in 4th gear before we were even out of the pits...

I know it’s not track experience as such, and comparing apples with oranges, but for anyone who has done it how does a driver training day, eg CAT at Millbrook compare in terms of time behind the wheel?

CAT (and others) work really well with your own car. hiring theirs is expensive, but given you spend a long time behind the wheel it's a fair price for wear'n'tear. once you've been 'initiated' at CAT you can go back at lower cost for a session.
Millbrook has no run off though...
