Take this form into next season - it'll matter then.
Well you carry on praying for that to happen. Given our record over the last 2 seasons, there was bound to be a dip somewhere. Next season starts on day 1 with every club on 0 points. We'll see what happens then.pinchmeimdreamin said:
Some of us were alive to see the others before the 30 year gap too so have no need to boast.
Souness: We won it with 5 games to go under Bob Paisley, we lost 4 in a row. We said we had to win the last game... we scraped a draw against Aston Villa on the last day. It happens. The focus, the intensity, 1 or 2%, it's not there.
Liverpool's 1982/83 title-winning season ended with no wins in final 7 games, failing to score in 4 of them, with 5 defeats.
The following season they won the league for the third year in a row.

A great title win could have seriously been one to thump home intent for next season and keep them in the record books for ages.
I get that the record books mean little to some... But they do get talked about a lot.
I think it's a shame for a season to fade out like this. And I hope it doesn't transfer over to the start of next season - City are flying right now.....despite them having nothing to play for. A lot of top flight sport is in the mind... Play to the whistle etc.

I don’t think it’s a huge surprise that your team is struggling now.
It’s success is built on outworking the other side, fighting for every ball and taking chances when they come. Knock 1-2% off the intensity, which is inevitable once you’ve won the league, and you won’t win many games. It’s not like you were sweeping teams aside 5-0 playing like Brazil and barely breaking a sweat.

In the last year we have won
European Cup
Super cup
World club cup
Premiership
If you still see negatives after that personally if it was me I'd give up supporting Liverpool as it will only make you very depressed in future years as I would be shocked if this happens again anytime soon..
I'm going to Liverpool next Wed, have booked into a Liverpool beer garden, ill guarantee you the atmosphere will be brilliant as everyone know what we have done this last year with the resources we have is unbelievable.
Suppose everyone is different but fk me I'm glad I'm not one of these glass half empty people. I think like during the peak or Covid ill keep off here, can put a dampener on any day.

I'll carry on supporting my team if that's OK with you, you may find it tiresome that I am annoyed when we lose, I find your fanboi attitude tiresome on occasion too - Klopp never makes mistakes, the club is perfect and you always have an excuse or retort for anyone who dares criticise. so yes everyone is different. In the last year we have won

Those players earn 3-4x a normal annual wage each week, so they should be professional and perform at a high standard, and should want to just because they are all competitors. I understand a slight drop off in intensity but that doesn't excuse some of the limp performances of late. Klopp is clearly pissed off with it too and he is never wrong.
One thing I do agree with you is momentum is key - and ours is st

Remaining games - 9 points needed to break the record of 100
11/07 Burnley (H)
15/07 Arsenal (A)
22/07 Chelsea (H)
25/07 Newcastle (A)
What we ending up on? 102 for me
are you not a bit frustrated that the players seem to have given up on breaking a few of those records, I am.11/07 Burnley (H)

Its OK you can say if you are a bit (but you won't)
I don't particularly care about these results, the objective was achieved weeks ago.
The issue will be the inevitable narrative the press spin on it after the short break into next season. Instead of "Can Liverpool maintain their form & break the points record again" we'll have "Liverpools form over the last 15 games has them midtable etc etc". It will just add more pressure going into the next season.
What the results have highlighted more than anything is the need for a deeper squad with better quality options, especially when the front 3 aren't clicking. We just about competed on 2 fronts this season.

I don't think any team will ever have a deep enough squad with enough quality options to compete on all 4 fronts. You can just about manage 3 if you get lucky draws or you're miles ahead in the domestic league. The issue will be the inevitable narrative the press spin on it after the short break into next season. Exactly. If this poor form continues and City progress further in the CL, bookies may well have City as favorites next season. I couldn't argue with that if Pep gets the rumoured £200m to spend (financed by a new Etihad jockstrap sponsorship deal). What the results have highlighted more than anything is the need for a deeper squad with better quality options, especially when the front 3 aren't clicking. We did well in the league as we kept our key players fit for the vast majority of it, and part of that was due to putting out a B side for FA/league cups. I don't think we can expect to be as lucky next season.
City can bring on Jesus, we can bring on Origi. I still have hopes for Keita and Minamino (but neither are proven) but we have only youngsters for RB/LB cover (we can't keep using Milner) which might be fine (and I really hope it is as its great progression and free) but its a risk.

I get what you're saying, however what we have been this season is incredibly lucky with injuries, especially in the forward positions. That won't replicate itself next season and better options than Origi and an untested Minimino are required at the bare minimum. We have to learn from the mistakes of past recruitment following a strong league finish
