By the sounds of it, it was the smaller clubs that voted against it as they thought it favoured the clubs with bigger budgets, hence them having more quality players on the bench.

I think it was Burnley that didn't have a full bench during the previous lockdown and another club had two goalkeeper to make up the numbers.

I can understand that but they've not thought very deeply about it. I suspect the smaller clubs will find they're just as susceptible to the muscle injuries the big clubs are getting and will regret it.

Wow! Barca have to reduce salaries by ~€200m by next Thursday or they'll have to file for bankruptcy. No wonder Bartomeu thought it was time he left.

As a Saints fan I’m glad they voted against it. My personal opinion is that Liverpool, Man Utd Man City can bring on a £40m player as their 5th sub. My team cannot get close to doing that. In this case it favours the teams with more money and widens the gap.

So what do you do, when you get a similar number of injuries because you can't now rest players or take them off often enough? You're still down to those reserves but they're having to play more games and longer minutes. These muscle injuries aren't going to limit themselves to the top level clubs.

Agreed.

It’s our fault we have a CB problem (well and that idiot Pickford), we sold Lovren so now we need Williams to step up and take his chance. I hope he can.

I'm not sure why the situation is any different with only three subs? Richer, bigger clubs will always have better strength in depth. This is about trying to minimise injuries to all first team players by allowing more rotation.

In fact, I would argue that it favours smaller clubs. Smaller clubs still have a lot of fixtures this season due to the domestic cups, and smaller clubs are going to struggle more if/when their best players start picking up injuries.

This midfield is creating zero. Boring, bland possession. Not creating any openings.

I would say quite soft, but can see why it is given. I thought we've been looking pretty decent - just hard to get past them packing their 1/3 of the pitch. Alisson a bit unlucky to have been unsighted for the goal otherwise he'd have kept it out.

Henderson playing CB most of the game doesn’t help.

Shaq and Jota for some creativity please

First VAR decision this season I can't argue with.

Scrappy game, West Ham are strangling it.

Both players slide in for the ball, as they should

Keeper dives in to smother as he should, even if Mane connects with the keeper it’s not a foul for me, Mane has every right to stretch for the ball and keepers are over-protected

Couldn’t see the foul on the defender either to be honest

Jota is quality. Incisive pass by Shaq. What we have been missing most of the game.
