Just wondering if anyone else has Football Index? It's an app that allows you to buy/sell "shares" in footballers, with share price rising with demand. I guess it's a bit like fantasy football - as players hit good form, their price will go up. Anyone find it a bit more interesting than regular football betting or stocks and shares?

I've used it for a few years and had some great results. I recently had to withdraw all my portfolio to pay for my wedding but I'm slowly building it back up again. It's a great platform and is getting better and better as it becomes more established. One of my friends has over 200k in his portfolio and 3-4 others have 80-90k so it's a trustworthy platform and attracting some big money people now smile

Got on it a few years ago and about 18 months ago I logged back in to see some quite impressive returns! Cashed out back then and have dabbled a few times with reasonable returns.

From what I see there are 2 approaches to it, buy the big names and make dividends on media/game day rewards or try and find the next haaland, sancho or bellingham and buy in early.

Yep I’m on there and amusingly have done similar to GTO! Didn’t waste it on a wedding though

It’s made me significantly more cash than any bookies and has outperformed any savings or shares I have but it is gambling!

I’ve got a 4K portfolio in there at the moment and that’s about 2.5k put in over a 6 month period. Selling at a good profit is slightly harder thus it used to be but Bruno particularly has made me a mint as he’s gone up in cost and the likes of Pogba and Rashford have been giving me beer money in the amount of dividends they’ve paid out!

I enjoy it. And haven’t lost a penny.

Take up their £500 free offer, try it for a week and if you don’t like you’ve not lost out!

How does the platform make a profit? Where are the fees?

And I assume there are players that are loss making and like any bet/stock, if you're on the wrong side, you pay for it.

Yes mate. Prices do fluctuate quite a bit at times but if you are holding a player for a long period and accept that there will be ups and down while collecting Media Dividends and Performance Dividends then that's your call.

For instance, as of writing now, Phil Foden is £7.03 and this time next year I think he will be a £10+ player so i'm going to lump £500 on him and go long term, same for Greenwood (£6.49). In that time depending on the amount of shares I have, I could potentially pick up a few hundred quid in dividends along the way and still have a player that's valued more than what I paid.

My mates that have huge money in are very very knowledgeable on football across Europe and spend a lot of time researching players to the point where it's almost a part time job!

Very interesting. Any idea on how the dividends are calculated? I'm thinking the payouts are generous right now whilst they try to attract people to the platform and in the future it might not be quite so profitable.

Also, I guess since it is considered gambling, all winnings/profits are tax free! biggrin

Ive got mates that have made fortunes on this.

I havent tried it but it all seems a little bit to good to be true.

There's a whiff of Ponzi about it.

Definately not Ponzi at all and Nasdaq wouldn't be associated to something like that.

It's improving all the time. Main thing is to do your research like you would any other stock you can buy!

Finally succumbed today thanks to this thread after being pummelled by the John Motson adverts on TalkSport. Punted 500 quid on a few players for the long term let's see how it goes.

Hope you bought Greenwood....

After posting earlier I lumped £254 on Greenwood and bought 39 of them for that. His price has rocketed since and is now at £732 for a tidy profit...

So who is losing money on this?? Are there really people 'investing' in crap players who then go down in value? Surely its fairly obvious who is worth putting money in to?
