Little old Wrexham

Not into football at all, but live just outside Wrexham, and very pleased for all the long term supporters.
Mind you the number of people who have "followed them for years" is now about equal to the number who were at the first ever sex pistols gig.
That's people for you. Never understood that phenomenon. Mind you the number of people who have "followed them for years" is now about equal to the number who were at the first ever sex pistols gig.

For years the attendance at Wrexham has been in the 2-4k mark depending on how well they were doing. The population of Wrexham Borough is 100k and so it stands to reason that the vast majority of people did not go regularly.
I don't understand how anyone who has followed Wrexham religiously is going to begrudge those who have either started going regularly or suddenly taken an interest in Wrexham. What do they want? Barely surviving in the National League? 1 year contracts and continuous player churn? A crumbling relic of a stadium owned by a 3rd Party? Yes it is tough getting tickets now, but in 12 months there will be a new 5500 seater stand, and who knows beyond that.
You know what I am loving. Walking round town and seeing more Wrexham shirts than Premier league clubs. In 10/15 years it will mean the fanbase is strong and there will be a generational flow down. I think it's great and provides a bit of a good news story for a town that hasn't had a lot to cheer about for many decades.
For the record, am from Wrexham, went very occasionally (first game in 78), had season tickets at MUFC for years, have been attending Wrexham regularly for the last 2 years and semi regularly for a few seasons before that.

If you are from the area, and by that I mean pretty much the whole of North Wales, Most of Mid Wales and the bit of Shropshire north of Shrewsbury it's very likely that you might have followed Wrexham (i.e. checking the results, reading a few articles). You might even have taken a few games in over the years.

So would you be admitting that you’re a glory hunter that shunned his local team for a successful Premier League one, only to then take a real interest in your hometown club when a Hollywood star takes over, promises the world and starts shelling out L1 wages (and above) to try to buy the league? For years the attendance at Wrexham has been in the 2-4k mark depending on how well they were doing. If they fail again this year, will you jump ship back to MU now that it looks like they’ve finally got a manager who knows what he’s doing for the first time since Ferguson was in charge?

In a strange way I quite enjoyed staying in the turf until you heard the refs whistle and running onto the kop only missing the first 90 seconds. Don’t get me wrong I’m enjoying 10,000 at every game and am lucky enough to get to most games.

I struggle with the concept of a local team. Where does it end? If I was born in Reading, but moved aged 4, is my local team Reading? Or where I moved to? But then I moved again. Now my local team would be in the 7th tier of football. Do I have to support them or can I support the premier league team I've supported for 40 years because my Dad did, and his Dad did, and his Dad did?
If my local team got taken over by a big hollywood superstar, am I not allowed to support them because I'm already committed to a premier league team? Glory hunting not an accusation you can make, my team hasn't won anything for a very long time.

I don't have that problem, I was born in Liverpool and have supported them man and boy, through thick and thin, moving around the world on military postings, first thing I did was go to the back page on the paper to see how they did (pre internet) I'm only following Wrexham's progress since Ryan and Rob took over out of interest.
I agree, I was responding to the "glory hunter" accusation that got posted. I'm happy that despite being born miles away from North London, my team is Spurs because it was my Dad's team, and his Dad's team, and so on. It's a big old world now and anyone can support whatever they want, and this dated idea of "local" is utterly irrelevant.
If someone is bringing revenue to a team, whether they are from Wrexham, or West Bumfk, USA, why would a "fan" care?

Similar thing in music when a band makes it big - some weird superiority complex kicks in from some fans "who were there when they were playing little clubs". People are weird. If someone is bringing revenue to a team, whether they are from Wrexham, or West Bumfk, USA, why would a "fan" care?

That's quite a signing, when your backup goalie played for England and you're a non league team (for now).
Planning for back to back promotions I reckon!
It’s more a favour I don’t think he will be involved next year. Planning for back to back promotions I reckon!
Have just signed a midfielder from Middlesbrough again until end of season. More chance of him staying next year than Foster.
Given Foster was quite happy at the start of the season to retire and focus on his media channels (podcasts/YouTube etc) I suspect this is a move which he's hoping will give those a bit of a boost on the back of his time at Wrexham, especially if they're filming another season of the TV show. No doubt he is also happy to pull the gloves back on but I would think this was just as much a business decision as a heart decision.
Natural cynic, me.

10 minutes of BF talking about the Wrexham deal. He does say it will offer opportunities for his social media profile as well as having a feel good factor around going back there and also working with Phil Parkinson.
