The problem is presumably brain shake. A helmet wont change that one bit. It may well make it worse.

That can’t be true, otherwise helmets wouldn’t be compulsory wear in so many other sports.

Surely a correctly designed helmet will help absord some of the impact to more of a thud than a bang of that makes sense ... ?

Maybe. I expect it’s pretty complex. But, yes, I can see that might work to an extent.

They’re typically used to protect the head from trauma, as I understand it. I don’t know about American football helmets, though.

There’s loads of stuff out there now though.

Motorbike helmets are designed to take all sorts of things and will absorb huge amounts of impact without any damage to the head or brain, pushbike helmets have some sort of spiny thing in them that prevents rotational brain injuries, rugby players used to wear a Cech style rubber hat thing, although that seems to have become less fashionable.

So there are loads of options.

Ole says he's personally in regular contact with Haaland....we couldn't, could we? hehe

Hope Amad gets a good 90 mins tonight and shows what he's about smile

I saw that smile

Would be good to see him have a good run out, have we got any fit midfielders yet?

Problem is that a helmet that absorbs the impact is absorbing the energy in the impact.
The result will be a pretty feeble header or headerer as Paddy would say.
A hard surface helmet may be a little better fro ball rebound but then you move towards the American Football issue.
"I've got head protection, I can go in head first".

I imagine it would be pretty hot as well. American football is lots of small gameplay with loads of breaks.

I think talk of helmets is a bit wide of the mark. It would be something along the lines of what Ruddock did as a prank all those years ago. A strip of rubber that goes round the forehead and back of the head. Plenty of technology nowadays to wick sweat and heat away.

Could see Ethan Galbraith have a run out tonight and maybe even a start along side Matic with Mata in front?

And there not! Very strong squad considering...

Bruno should not be playing. But I guess he’s on to try and get an early goal then he can get off
