A decent performance and 3 points in the bag. However, to me it asks many questions regarding our performances over the last 6-8 games (which have been awful), it is great to turn up for a derby match but where were those players against the likes of West Brom, Sheffield U, Palace..? Sometimes attitude and consistency are far more important than quality. Martial is awful in front of goal.

No real United fan would post that contradictory drivel after a derby win. Attitude and consistency are more important than quality. Get a grip. Gone a bit AMG said:

Let me assure you I am a real United fan and have been for over 50 years through thick and thin. We don't require so much quality to beat teams at the arse end of the table. If most players had the shown the same commitment as in today's game we would be neck and neck with our City rivals instead of a distant 2nd.Well done you lot. City will win it anyway, but good someone stops them completely disappearing now. As said by a few earlier - you are fantastic counter attacking against teams who play to win. If they sit back you struggle. This season's title "race" is like a choice between eating st or eating vomit, but I am happy for you fans on here as you're a decent lot for United fans for the most part!

Good performance but still not sure why GN thinks Martial is so amazing, however he made a good point that it's not so much if we finish second as how we finish second and that's a very valid point I feel. We've moaned about the team for ages despite their position.
I think he saw what Martial added to the team, rather than his (lack of) goal scoring. He did a great job today of getting the ball around the central third of the pitch with his back to goal and holding onto the ball to give us a chance to move forward. A role that Hughes did brilliantly throughout his career, although Martial is nowhere near him in terms of strength and desire. Not sure it was a MOTM performance though. Martial’s lack of goals is a worry, as was Rashford’s unwillingness to shoot.

Shaws got to be in for England hasn’t he? (Shame I left him on my FF bench!)
Why can we do that against City but not the lesser teams? Is it how they set up against us.
We had a very early Pen, changes the dynamic of the game totally on it's head. Shock for City and hope for us...we dealt with it better. Why can we do that against City but not the lesser teams? Is it how they set up against us.

Can't help thinking about Newcastle in 96
Just need Pogba to do a Cantona comeback
I'd just love it...Just need Pogba to do a Cantona comeback
Scousers have already gone into a meltdown kaboom, can't see Pep folding and he's got unlimited resources unlike Herr Klopp. City can buy another set of players to defend the title with if they win it.
Nice to get a solid result in all the same.

So despite city coming into this game on an almost world record run of victories you’d rather berate the players for previous failings than celebrate a derby win. Enjoy your half empty glass! We needed that today against runaway rivals or not.

Well said. We are not the finished article and need strengthening more to make any title challenge but we are in a decent position with a decent sized squad and other big clubs are having a much worse time of it ! Happy days for now at least.

Obviously when we do actually sell Jones,he will suddenly become injury free and fulfil his potential.
I'd genuinely love that, barring his gurning there was at one point a proper player in there, bear him no ill will, I'd love to see him in a Top 10 side marshalling a defenceGassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
