I find the response fairy embarrassing. The Govt seems to think it should tell private companies what lawful agreements they can reach.
This used to be a modern democracy. Now it’s government by populist howl and hysteria.

Incidentally, I found this article on the Radio Times website - of all places (I was reading about Gran Torino (on at 9pm on itv4, Clint and Ford Gran Torino fans)). A lot of it rang true.
When I think about all of the things that have happened to United during the 50 years that I have been supporting them, this latest episode makes me feel sick. I know that the Glazers took over the club to make money, but surely, they must realise that, if the ESL takes off, FIFA, UEFA, FA and Premier league will expel the club from their competitions, reducing the income potential somewhat. The clubs involved in this endeavour don’t care about their fans, all they are interested in is the balance sheet. What about the clubs history? What about tradition?
I know that the club’s finances won’t be affected much by the loss of my membership, not attending matches or not buying merchandise, but I will feel better knowing that I am no longer associated with such a pernicious and mercenary group of people, with no regard for the club I have loved.
I will get my fix from FCUM and Oldham Athletic and will come away from matches feeling clean.

I actually like the idea of it, I would rather watch ManU v Barcelona than watch them play Brighton or Wolves. Its become a worldwide game so why dont we treat it as one.
When you travel abroad people have heard of Man U and Liverpool, they haven't a clue who or where Leicester are or even how to pronounce it!

In a friendly, possibly 5 times a year? Sounds great. When you travel abroad people have heard of Man U and Liverpool, they haven't a clue who or where Leicester are or even how to pronounce it!

Can I ask, how old you are and do you go to games?

This is my personal view and may not be to everyones taste.

Do you not consider the open competition factor? Seeing United v Liverpool is the the fixture I always look for. Not sure it would be the same if we played them so often.

Because they are Americans, and simply can't grasp they own a club/company that dates back to 1878.....which for a yank is only 13 after the end of the American Civil War (same for Liverpool and Arsenal owners)They simply are not interested in any historical aspect, it's the American way, no emotions when it comes to business.
Nearly 40 years ago, when my late father was serving at Windsor Castle, a clearly wealthy, oil rich cowboy hat wearing Texan that looked like he'd just stepped off the set of Dallas, walked up to my father and in all seriousness, just as an airliner flew overhead into Heathrow...
"Gee, its a nice place your Queen has here, but I don't understand why she had it built so close to Heathrow Airport"
He simply couldn't comprehend that it had been built 900 years ago, or that anything that old hadn't long been demolished and replaced with something new and shiny.

Off topic, but I've experienced similar. An American visitor to my workplace remarked that he liked visiting the UK and was amused that we had named many of our towns and cities after places in the US. They simply are not interested in any historical aspect, it's the American way, no emotions when it comes to business.

Thanks, that blows my theory that this is likely to appeal to younger fans and those who are perhaps more armchair.

Crikey, I was hoping he was 16 and watched footy on a PlayStation.Do you not consider the open competition factor? Seeing United v Liverpool is the the fixture I always look for. Not sure it would be the same if we played them so often.
I don’t know any of mates 30-50 years old who want this. The only reason I enjoy watching EPL (plus crowds minus VAR) is its competitiveness and worrying slightly about every game and hoping rivals drop points against Brighton or Burnley. Playing RM is only special because it comes round once every couple of years.

It’s amazing how many people claim that Urban Myth anecdote for themselves.

Woodward has quit his role at UEFA.
Not just UEFA. According to Talksport the dopey fecker has also resigned as Chairman of the club too . Hardly surprising after this monumental fkup. So, in 48 hours hes managed to further wreck the reputation of our club, bottle it and now quit. What a guy.Ding dong the witch is dead etc...
Hopefully the Glazers are also having thoughts now, but somehow I doubt that.
