That’s how you do an organised press and that’s how you finish.

Twice !
I scored them both from my setee....does anyone else's leg / head spend have the game kicking / heading the ball or is it just me?
I do that

Not an easy watch that, Dick Turpin would have loved it.

Stats of the game are peak Moyes.

Still, a win is a win. Happy days.

Oh and Happy 60th sjc.

COYI.
Ta mate.
I’d suggest the starts didn’t tell the whole story. There was some proper organisation, some trigger pressing for two of the goals, and we (generally) kept the ball like the Newcastle game for 70 mins. Suddenly in that system Rodriguez looks really important and Soler looked like he was a Rolls Royce.

Injuries will dictate bit it was promising.

Many happy returns, sjc! Pleased with parts of the performance tonight, especially with how the squad is at the moment.

Yep agree with the stats. Watched The Bar with Jermaine Pennant and Cindy on Talksport last night and Pennant was trying to pull up a happy hammer by saying the performance wasn’t good enough.

Well it was good enough to win, and no one gave Leicester crap for doing the same to us earlier in the season when we had 20+ shots and lost.

I agree with what Potter said post match, those two mistakes only came about because of a well coordinated high press (Liverpool have been doing exactly this all season!) it wasn’t like Fulham kicked the ball in their own net under no pressure.

Anyway, improvements all round, more personal duels being won across the pitch, and I do think Summerville can play a big part in our new look and shape once he’s back fit.

I was happy with it, notwithstanding the nervy last 15-mins.

GP's had little time to work with the squad & injuries to key players to content with. It was a very good result against an in-form team, although Fulham @ home is generally a home banker.

Both goals conceded were crap & Fab should've done much better for the first one IMO.

Top work again from Scarles at the death.

Pennant's a cock.

He could be telling me I’ve won the Euromillions and I’d still want to mute the muppet

Having watched a shortened version back today (yesterday was blurred by several birthday pints),there was a couple of things that stood out. For our third goal, just before Ings dispossessed Leno he signalled to Paq to get further up the pitch, and Paq then ended up in the perfect position. When we then scored,Ings screamed out with joy,he seems to be a model pro’.
When Scarles closed down Traore when he ballooned it over at the end,Pac went straight over to him. Suddenly we lokk like we’ve got some leaders out there.

Indeed, and another couple of things I picked up on was firstly Kudus, whatever dwarf he is it certainly ain`t Happy. He needs to go back to basics, pass and go instead of taking on the whole world and disappearing up his own arris.

The other was Fab. Now I`m no keeper, unless you count 2 seasons for Ashford Hockey Club in 1983/4, but surely you keep your eyes on the ball and not second guess the onrushing striker as if he does get a touch you ain`t stopping that from a yard away. Both goals, if he`d fixed his eyes on the ball it would have been a simple catch.

You know Wally Watson & Ian Thomas then? I played in goal for them aged about 15 (c1973) and in the spirit of PH, someone came to our house in a RR to pick me up for the game........... didn't see many of those on Stanhope them days and doubt you do even today...oh and I agree about Fab..my dog would have saved them coz his eyeds are always on the ball not the man biggrin

Interestingly for our second goal when Kudus dribbled across their box it looked all the world like he was going to do his usual and shoot into their shins but he actually laid it off to Soler… maybe just maybe he might learn from that.
I’m in the keepers union, both those crosses were a keepers worst nightmare, you simply can’t make any movement or decision until it’s beaten everyone, and invariably by then it’s too late and looks really soft !
( I haven’t looked at his eyes like you mention though).
These sort of goals seem to happen more and more, I’ll defend Fab and say it was simply two great crosses.
Watch him chuck one in on Saturday now ffs !

What Wally Watson my games teacher at Knatchbull and Ian Thomas, IIRC, was games teacher at the Towers?.

Wallys son Dave was my centre back when I was in goal for Ashford and he opened the bowling for Wye when I opened the batting for BRSA back in the day.

Wally was my games teacher too and Ian Thomas was ex head boy at Norton Knatch ( called Ashford grammar in my 1st yr there) he came back as PE teacher before he went to Towers and he was also Ashford & District schools representaive team manager with Keith Kitney from Homewood.

Wally would hit everyone with his hockey stick if you never got out of the changing rooms quick enough but luckily I was good at sport so he never hit me - except I do recall he wasn't happy that I would always get the better of his son on the pitch ...you must be same age as Neil Ruddock who went to the North?
