Its 100% off Soucek, the Sky Sports coverage has a slow mo from the side facing the player and the defender is no where near it and kicks Souceks right arm, he chests it in.
Yep, agreed, just watched it, clearly chests it in.
Funny how we were talking about Soucek dropping in as a centre back, when actually it has become apparent he can be a good attacking super sub when teams are tired and he adds some physicality up front.

Given our entire squad forward line (Wilson) cant do 60 mins just as well really lol

I read in the news Fulkrugs agent saying a January departure should happen.
As soon as they had the ball, he was dropping right in one step forward than the other centre halves. When Areola had it and was able to waste some time, he went up top to be a nuisance.

He has always been a much better forward player than a defensive one, except when throwing his head at corners. Seems to have that knack for being in the right place right time, just with his legs gone takes him a bit longer to get there lol

Hope so, but assume we'll take another bath as we'll have to pay-up for him to fk off or it'll be a loan.

Stand by my previous comment re. Fulk - worst WH transfer of modern time (with keiron dier #2).

Seems many of Steindten's transfers were no good.

16 players signed during his involvement with the Club, not sure how much direct influence/decision he had on any of them:

First team: AWB, Summerville, Mav, Kilman, Irving, Guilherme, Rodriguez, Todibo
Perma-injured: Fullkrug
Loan/banished: Alvarez, JWP
Left: Foderingham, Soler, Kudus
WTF: Phillips

Best not to total up what that lot cost yikes

I do look at some of those and think your average WH fan could have advised we buy them using Football Manager on their phones.
None are really stand out, none were relative unknowns, and many are just absolute shockers that at the time most fans said WTF.

And these recruitment experts get paid, how much?

Fullkrug "could" have been and still "could" be a decent signing.

He`s scored 14 goals for Germany and has decent stats at his previous clubs.

Sadly he`s just the latest in a long line of strikers we`ve signed that are as follows:

a) Always injured.
b) Played in a system that doesn`t work for their strengths.
c) Benched.
d) Loses interest and wants out.*

  • Current position.
And then:

e) Sold at a huge loss.
f) Stays fit.
g) Scores a fkload of goals.

Rinse and repeat.

Needs to be an addendum to added "returns from international duty injured" - Fulk's current (and Sept 24) injury was picked up during training w/ Germany & that cock SWP did for Ashton on England duty.

Antonio got injured messing about for Jamaica in Nov 23.

Ashton was one I was really looking forward to seeing. Could have been our Shearer.

Yep. Being introduced to the crowd @ UP on crutches wasn't the best start though.

I thought he was injured when we signed him & was introduced to the crowd @ UP in Jan 2006.

I might be spouting bks though, as I can't find anything to support that, despite me being at the ground!

Thought I might as well use Copilot for something non-work related for a change biggrin

No, Dean Ashton was not introduced to Upton Park on crutches. He was presented to the crowd at Upton Park on January 23, 2006, shortly after signing for West Ham United, and there is no indication he was injured or using crutches at that time.
Here's what happened:
- Dean Ashton signed for West Ham United on January 22, 2006, for a then club-record fee of £7.5 million from Norwich City.
- He was introduced to the crowd the next day, before the match against Fulham at Upton Park. This was a traditional unveiling, where new signings were brought out to greet fans before or during halftime.
- There are photos from Getty Images showing Ashton walking unaided during his introduction, confirming he was not on crutches.
- He made his home debut shortly after, scoring his first goal against Sunderland, further confirming he was fit and active at the time.
The confusion might stem from his later injury troubles, which unfortunately led to his early retirement. But at the time of his introduction to West Ham fans, he was fully fit and ready to play.

Cheers - confirmation I was talking toss, clears that up. I likely had a Nokia 6230 then, so wouldn't have bothered taking any pics.

We won that game 2-1, Anton Ferdinand & Benayoun scored.
