I was at Bristol City v AFC Bournemouth last night.

Cherries were good but benefited by two huge strokes of luck. Dan Bentley's been superb all season but punched a Stanislas effort into his own net then on 88 minutes, Billing headed a cross against Carter-Vickers back and it went in. With luck like that, don't rule out Bournemouth from the playoffs.

Divemuff create a lot of their own luck by using the dark arts. (still angry)

It's a cliche but that's the sort of game/surface you need to grind out a win on if you're to achieve promotion.

Off topic slightly but sad to see Bradley Dack injure his ACL again, albeit the other knee. Talented player on his day, now facing another long layoff.

As a neutral (and a Leeds fan) I wish you guys all the best. To continue to perform whilst selling players such as Watkins and Benrahma, somebody must be doing something very right at your place. I would love to see you finally make it to the Premier League and your fans have a full first season in your new home in the top flight

We have a terrible record in play-offs, so my expectations are not high tbh.

Yes , Chelsea fan here from Stoke. Hope you get to the Prem, I saw you play a couple of seasons ago at Stoke (free ticket from my dad's season ticket when he couldn't make it). Best footballing side I've seen play at Stoke, the team had some great players and most have had to be sold and still you keep getting close. Watkins, Maupay and Sawers were outstanding.

Villa fan here, appreciative of the talent we have signed from the Bees in respect of Dean Smith and Ollie Watkins, still can't work out what went wrong with Hogan - he was on fire at Griffin Park yet never did it at Villa.

My one and only visit to Griffin Park was in fact on the night you sold Hogan to us ... had a few pints in one of the famous four pubs with some friendly Bees fans and a good laugh. You thumped us with a high tempo style, lots of home fans singing 'Hogan, what's the score!?'

My former boss and her husband are both Bees STHs too, I know they're desperate for you to make it, so I will be cheering you on on Saturday, score first and it is proper game on!

Well done today and I hope you win the final! I understand the commercial reasons behind the play-offs but personally I hate them - for me the team that finishes third after 46 games should be the one to go up so having been denied last season I really hope you do it this time!

Well done Brentford. Avoided most of Bournemouth's cheating and focused on the game.

Enjoy the final and good luck!

Absolutely.
But its the modern way, just like the Champions League, which can be (and has been) won by a team that was not the champions of their respective league from the previous season.

Too right, football is a nonsense at times now that business and money rules over sport. Maybe a re-naming might be in order.....something like European Super League maybe ??

Really enjoyed Saturday's match.

I'm a Wolves fan and have been hoping Brentford reached the Premier League for a few years now. Used to enjoy battles with Brentford when I was a young kid when they had Gary Blissett and Dean Holdsworth etc. Then when they dropped from the second tier they became a bit of a nothing club for years to most outsiders. Then when we dropped to League One, it was such an enjoyable season and Brentford looked really fresh and you tell something good was building there then. Leyton Orient looked similar, but since then they fell to pieces and went in completely the opposite direction. Hopefully back on track now, with our manager from that time, Kenny Jackett just taking over.

I think Brentford have been the best team in the Championship for 3 years now. Or have certainly played the best football. They've just been lacking that bit of bottle at the business end. I think Saturday showed a bit of what had been missing because they really had to dig deep. The final is going to be tough though and they need to be mentally strong. I do think they should have won the league this season. They had a slightly nervous start to the season and dropped an unexpected few point, guessing a combination of a hangover from last season's play-off final defeat and bedding a few new faces in after losing a few key players (as usual). They also dropped a few unexpected points when they had the chance to go top mid season-ish IIRC. Norwich won the league comfortably in the end, but they only lost the same number of games as Norwich, just had too many draws. They need to find that extra bit of bottle to get through the final, as to lose two finals in two seasons, it's going to be difficult to bounce back from that. Last season I can't believe they didn't get second. Albion did everything they possibly could to throw that away and you'd have thought Brentford only needed a sniff to get back in, but completely blew it.

You've got to admire a club that can pluck so many players from complete obscurity to most people in this country. Sell almost all of the players that made a name for themselves and replace them cheaply again with even better and repeat that cycle so many times now and build a new stadium off the back of it. Really though Benrahma and Watkins would be a step too far to replace and when they signed Toney I didn't think he'd be a great success. Wolves had come close to signing Toney when he was at Northampton before he went to Newcastle and it's took him a long time to really get himself back on track. Don't get me wrong, I knew he was a decent striker, but didn't think he was the right style for Brentford and certainly didn't see him setting a new Championship goalscoring record, but Brentford's scouts clearly saw something they could work with!

Also, a lot of teams would have got rid of Thomas Frank quite early on as it took him a while to get going, but they are hopefully going to reap the rewards now.

Really glad they got one over on Bournemouth too. When they won the league last time, I never saw such use of the dark arts to win so many points and get away with it so much. There were still signs of that in this team on Saturday.

Good luck!

Wednesday fan here also rooting for Brentford. You have showed teams like us how a club should be run, whilst playing attractive football at the same time. A good pal of mine is a Bees fan too and he has had a really difficult last 12 months so it would be great for him to see them in the Prem.
