Always liked to watch Shaq, had a good attitude and busted a gut, not a bad time to sell given his Euro performances were decent

Proving elite footballers don't make natural tv presenters...

Shaq confirms he is looking for a new challenge elsewhere:

Wouldn't be a huge loss IMO if he does leave but hopefully Minamino can pick up the same weights Shaq uses.
That's a shame, I'm a big fan of his. Understandable though - he's played at the top level, won trophies and he's still not 30. No reason why he can't walk into most of the better sides in Europe. I did read somewhere Minamino was available for offers too but I would rather he stayed and was able to get into the side regularly. I wonder if LFC have decided he's not quite what they need after all though (which seems a shame after tracking him for 2-3 years before signing).

Loved this line about Shaq on another page of TIA - probably sums up his time with us in many ways:

"Three years of wondering when he’ll be fit, gasping at moments of brilliance and no end of comments about the size of his calves, but it could all be over soon."

He showed flashes of promise, but struggled to get into the Southampton side which is worrying.

Not sure how we can watch a player for that long and still get it wrong, surely EPL can’t be that much harder than Germany, or do players get over-awed on top EPL sides

Hasenhuttl said he was in discussions with Liverpool on trying to sign him permamently, at the back end of last season, so I don't think he did that badly. Not sure where those discussions went but I think he'll be given a full season with us, especially given his low fee and wages and potential. Lijnders has been talking him up in training specifically calling him out as being on fire. Hopefully he comes good this season.

I thought he came from RB Salzburg? Looked decent against us in the CL, but Austrian league to PL is certainly a big step up.

He used to link up great with Haaland, but maybe that was more to do with Haaland... Or maybe he just works best in a particular system, with an out and out striker.

He was the lad they stopped the 2019 CL parade bus for outside his house, so Millie could show him the trophy. Poor fella.

Sounds like a decent half of football.

1st half was definitely the best we've been in pre season - lots of quick ball movement. Salah's back heel for Taki's goal was sublime.

Looks like the 2nd half is going to be very bitty - lots of subs coming on at half time and now at the hour mark.

Bit unfortunate that Nat Phillips gets caught out with that cross and was due to be subbed pretty much straight after. Keeping fingers crossed Virgil and Gomez walk off the pitch at the end.
