Completely hypothetical. Chelsea are due to make another improved offer for Lukaku. Which in my view would make Werner a bit redundant. They have Pulisic and Havertz, Abraham too if he isnt sold. Worth making a cheeky bid if the Lukaku purchase goes through?
Whilst he wasn't prolific last season he did play the Bobby role perfectly dropping deep, linking up play etc.

Klopp wanted him before, think Werner wanted some sort of guarantee of playing time, maybe he has come down a peg or two and might be a good option, if fee:wages are not stupidWhilst he wasn't prolific last season he did play the Bobby role perfectly dropping deep, linking up play etc.

Something seriously amiss about Karius if nobody seems to want him. I wonder if its wage demands, wanting a top flight club, poor attitude or what...SOMEBODY surely wants a keeper...
He went to Turkey and didn't exactly cover himself in glory. I imagine there are very, very few clubs in any of the top leagues that want him, and he probably won't want to leave Liverpool and go to a club in the lower leagues...I can only imagine his future lies outside of Europe.

Or he retires and plays for fun (opens a pub/whatever).I can only imagine his future lies outside of Europe.
Apparently his contract is worth £6.5m (I would assume plus a signing bonus). To keep it simple, assume he also has image rights and sponsorship, which nets out to whatever he pays to his agent and in taxes. If his lifestyle has been relatively sensible, he could actually just walk away and lead a decent life without dropping another ball in his life (even by PH how much do I need to retire standards).

At 57 and having worked for around 35 years before having to retire, I never earned anything like £6.5m. I get by on my reduced job pension but fortunately was able to own my own house outright. I suspect the question really is "could I retire and still spend loads of cash needlessly forever without ever worrying about it" and surely with 6.5m you could even at his age. Unless you need a new yacht/mansion/plane every couple of years

That‘s kind of my point. If he‘s actually a bit more self aware than his social media suggests, he might have cottoned on to the fact he‘s never going to get a replacement for his current contract. So, he might as well sit it out, get paid 25k a week and see if anyone will take him on a free transfer and maybe pay him a few grand a week. If they don‘t (and he hasn‘t blown his wages), he‘ll have a nice enough lifestyle without having to lift a finger again. Not PL footballer nice, but he won‘t have to decide between Heinz and own brand beans.I think we should just pay his contract up. He‘s never going to play for us again and his presence in training is taking up coaching resources that could be better deployed elsewhere.

Agreed. He's in the last year of his contract - seems unlikely anyone is going to pay very much for him.I think we should just pay his contract up. He‘s never going to play for us again and his presence in training is taking up coaching resources that could be better deployed elsewhere.
In other news, Thiago came back from his break wth a slight injury so won't be in the matches against Bologna on Thursday.

They can afford for him to not even make the matchday squad. Whilst he wasn't prolific last season he did play the Bobby role perfectly dropping deep, linking up play etc.
I think he'll come good anyway this season, might even stick him in my FF if they've lowered the price.

You've seen him play right?I'd rather pluck a keeper from the Ryman league than have him in goal.

I assumed he was just fetching the coffee for Klopp or similar, rather than proper training? In other news, Thiago came back from his break wth a slight injury so won't be in the matches against Bologna on Thursday.
