Did not see that coming.

Would love to know the terms. Must be atleast 300k a week.

Oddly enough I was sat having a coffee and saw on my phone that the This Is Anfield guys were posting on Facebook about Salah's agent posting another laugh emoji and people were getting riled up and saying "just sell him, his stupid agent" etc etc. 20 minutes later in the car and it was breaking news he'd signed a new deal.

Good to get that out of the way before the season starts. No more distractions.

Hopefully he pulls his finger out now he's got what he wants. Won't be impressed if we've paid him £300K+ for him to carry on with his form from the 2nd half of the season.

It's still a good move from the club - if he doesn't perform at least he could be sold for a reasonable fee rather than leave for nothing at the end of the season

Yes that is true. Apparently the deal falls inside the wage structure with the headline figure based on success and appearance bonuses.

Seems the LFC media team have been at Salah's holiday villa - lots of photos and video snippets an hour or so back on Twitter, teasing about the renewal, including one with him sat by his pool on his phone, then putting his team shirt on, turning to the camera and saying "Salah stays".

Fabulous news. Probably massive money, but only 3 years…. I would guess the negotiations have primarily been about how long the contract is.

Interesting article about our new pitch is grown. It's not just grass anymore. And they collect stats on the pitch performance just as much as on players' performance. I didn't understand half of it but it's a long way from me reseeding my lawn.

Well that's definitely the midfielder cancelled for this season then! laugh

Great news. Salah has the fitness, athleticism and desire - he's a winner and there's no reason why he can't play on well into his mid-to-late 30's. He looks after himself and his body and stays virtually injury-free. Benzema and Ronaldo are recent examples and I'd definitely put him in the same bracket as them.

Part of me also thinks this is Liverpool locking in value too. Lewendowski is commanding €50m at 33 with a year to run down. Still got the prime years of Salah.

Great news.

I’m not a Liverpool fan as such, but love watching them play and Salah has been a massive part of that over the last few years. Plus my youngest son is Salah-mad.

Congratulations.

Ta. I think we would definitely have been weaker without him - although I would have still sold him rather than have him hanging around picking up wages before filling his pockets elsewhere. Anyway, better with him. Having Darwen in the front 3 with him and Diaz will at least shake up how we play a bit, which will be a good thing. A bit less predictable going forward, perhaps.

He's not really a striker in all honesty, he plays out wide but can play as a striker if needed.

Also not many Everton players have scored 15 goals in a season for a while (sadly). I also think he's better than Spurs' level, he won fk all with us and will win fk all with them
I predict he’ll win a lot more of the matches he plays in

biggrin
From the excellent Guardian Fiver

“EVERTON STRIKE IT RICH
It was a great season for Everton. By spectacularly avoiding relegation, they achieved that rare thing in the Premier League era: a memorable campaign, one for the ages to go alongside the time they avoided relegation in 1998, and the time they avoided relegation in 1994, and the year they finished proudly above Rafael Beneath-Us who then won Big Cup a couple of weeks later. But the best players set their sights even higher than these lofty goals, which explains why Richarlison wants out, up and away. He’s leaving to pursue tangible reward and glory with

[Fiver pauses, adjusts pince-nez]

yep, it says Spurs, right enough. Whether Tottenham Hotspur is the ideal destination in the Brazilian’s quest for success and silverware is a moot point, given they’ve been waiting even longer than the Ev (and Forest, Derby and Ipswich) for the title. But they are playing in Big Cup next season, have just signed Yves Bissouma, are managed by Antonio Conte, are not managed by Frank Lampard, and haven’t posted losses of £372m in the last three years. So it’s all relative. An upgrade’s an upgrade’s an upgrade, ain’t that the truth.

Everton are desperate to get the deal done by close of play on Thursday, in the hope of including the £50m fee in this year’s column of their tattered old account book, as they seek to comply with the Premier League’s seemingly arbitrary profit and sustainability rules. Spurs had offered Harry Winks and Steven Bergwijn in part exchange, but Everton wanted the chance to waste the money themselves. And so Richarlison leaves Goodison on good terms, having scored 53 goals in 152 appearances, six of them at crucial points during the recent relegation battle. Not a bad return for the £50m they paid Watford. No silverware, of course, and no profit on the deal, but the way things have been going for Everton lately, this counts as a rare success.”

The FSG OUT brigade are unusually quiet on social media. They’ll be whinging about a midfielder before long, but this is a good move by the club. He’ll be back to the Mo we know and love from day 1 of the new season.
I’d like to see Bobby get a contract extension, I’d start him before Jota even on a bad day. He does so much unseen work.

Allegedly "in excess of £350k a week. Less than £400k a week but heavily incentivised so that could be exceeded, depending on performance."

Hopefully assists are rewarded as much as goals...

Quote was from TIA quoting Paul Joyce, I think it was.

Mane was on more than that according to his agent.
