New bike time.

I have always wanted one of these, and in fact seeing the Daytona 675 in "Scorched Yellow" is pretty much what got me into bikes 15 years ago. It has been a long time coming, but I finally have one! I reckon it's a surefire classic. It has also been a lesson in buying unseen, but that's a story for another day.



Initial impressions are that the sound with the Arrow can is fantastic, the engine is slightly down on power compared to my old ZX6R C1h but there is obviously a lot more torque and it is much easier to get leant over, with a lot more feedback when you get there. And again, the sound...

Couple of little niggles to sort but so far, it is living up to expectations.

Already had more positive comments in one day than in two years with the ZX6R. Roll on summer.

Love these. They got the look spot on I think, the older 650 four cylinder was nice, but this blows it away.

Fantastic bikes. I built one as a track bike and remains one of my favourite bikes ever.

Lovely.

I'm planning to go swap my ZX6R C1h for a facelift Daytona (2013-on) at some point. Have been eyeing up the 675R but don't think it's worth the money over the base model for my purposes.

I had a 15 675r and I still say it’s the most enjoyment I’ve had from a bike, it certainly got more attention than any other bike I’ve owned.

I only sold it as I was doing more track days and wanted a track specific bike, ended up on a Zx6r.

I've always had a thing for the triple. Never ridden one of these only the street triple 675 and 765 both were amazing

My nephew bought one of those just after he passed his test.

I dread to think how few miles it’s done. When I go down there it’s always sitting in a corner of the garage looking like it hasn’t moved for years.

It’s one of those ‘I don’t use it much..but one of these days I will’ bikes that you see in garages everywhere.

I've always fancied one of these. One of the best looking bikes ever built in my opinion. Sound lovely as well.

Similar, the T595 Daytona in 1997 was the bike that made me go and get a ‘proper’ road bike.

Absolutely lovely looking thing, wanted one since they came out. Future classics for sure.

Went for a 2013 street triple r myself because I couldn't tolerate the riding position of the daytona on the road.

Thanks guys, great to see some love for the Daytona on here. As someone said, I do think (flame suit on) in this colour, it is the best looking bike ever made. There is something very 'alive' about it.

By all accounts, the facelifted and later versions are all technically better (and largely free of the reg/rec issues that these have), but I think this one just looks so "right", and this was a heart over head purchase after all. It was always going to be one of the early versions, in this colour! The only downside is how thin on the ground they are. Almost all of them seem to be grey or red.

I think the best thing is the intake noise from low revs WOT in 2nd, it sounds like it has a carbon airbox, it just sings! spin

This one does have a few issues (slipping clutch and possibly part seized suspension bushes, going from how it keeps throwing me out of the seat), which I hope to resolve with the aid of the supplying dealer... but either way, I just love it and am chuffed to finally have one.

Agreed about the riding position, but it's fine for half a day's riding and you are only young(ish) once!

How do you find the riding position compared to the ZX6R? I'm expecting it to be a narrower bike being a triple.

It is about a quarter thinner hehe

Honestly, it's not that different. Looking at Cycle Ergo and comparing the angles, I thought it would be worse but it's honestly not much different. I am 6'1" with quite long legs and found the Ninja fine for up to three days of 8 hours' straight riding, but after that the seat got pretty sore. I think the Daytona would be about the same. I do look over the front screen and can't naturally see the top half of the tacho, but the knee/hip/wrist ratio is about the same.

Congratulations on your new bike
Had a 06 Scorched Yellow as my first proper sports bike a year after passing my test and loved every minute, mine had the TOR end can and I was sold as soon as I heard the bike, even before the test ride.
The colour looks great in the sunshine and always got lots of attention, probably even more now because of the rarity, like you said a possible future classic, enjoy.

I had to disconnect the butterfly valve on the exhaust as it kept sticking resulting in loss of power

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I did - managed to get upto 275kmh??

Cheers guys. Unfortunately, it's clear that this one hasn't been very well looked after - the clutch is slipping (how is that even possible with only 23k!?), the stator cover is leaking and spraying oil on my boot, it's been dropped previously, and I think the cush drive is perished. So I have decided to return the bike but I will be getting another, hopefully better, identical example as soon as one comes available. If you know of any, give me a shout.

The perils of buying unseen from a very well known "stack em high sell em cheap" outfit, but I always factored it in as a risk and to be fair they haven't been awful to deal with.

I remember you having one! Sounds lovely. Not quite 275 due to the clutch slip, but I've given it a good run most of the way there!

Only problem with it was that it was impossible to ride normally - as in it always wanted me to do wheelies and go as fast as I could

I’ll probably live longer without it.

I know you shouldn't have to, but not worth fixing?
