Never seen a bunch of pundits desperately try so hard to put a positive spin on st football as much as this before.

I just had the horrifying image of Mbappe taking on that defence.

Saka regards that as an "expressive and well played game by England".... enough said. If they cant constructively criticise themselves then there is no hope.

To be honest I would have preferred the easier route from now on in. Nothing that I have seen in the 3 England games so far makes me think that we will beat any of France, Germany or Portugal, so it could be all over this time next week, whilst Croatia go marching on.

Indeed, but I didn't get the inference, why is Foden suited to a youth custody centre? confused

Well my conclusion is Gareth sts himself at an attacking line up and will always feel more at ease with an defensive line up. Its his player mentality.
You may have a point . . .

If that’s expressive, god knows how boring training must be.

Two games now we’ve started solid, really solid looking, we then go off the boil.

Questionable subs, like taking foden off the other game when he was out best player, and then again today removing Sac and grealish.

The thing is I feel were more vulnerable when we’re playing the way G.S seems to be pushing them

Odd comment for sure
Phillips wasn't in the game much tonight, midfield generally got left out of it by Maguire and the rest of the defence slowing the game down and/or going backwards from promising positions, followed by Pickford hoofing possession away.

Masterblaster was last great thing Stevie Wonder did over 40 years ago!!

Scotland loving getting one over the English I can understand. History generally, politics and the England football team generally always being far better rated with Scotland the underdogs. Seems reasonable.

English fans hating the Scots, though...why? Because they don't give you respect or something? Or just because England are dull you have to hate something? It's a bit like if Liverpool fans hated Tranmere Rovers fans. A bit pointless.

Whilst England were dire in the 2nd half, and I dont think the performances today really sorted out what our best 11 or best system actually are, it should not be forgotten that "defense wins championships".

Even with the scrambles and falling over in the 6 yard box, we kept a clean sheet, Pickford looks solid, and our players are actually used to scrappy pinball defending since its the PL week in and week out.

We'll see if they can stand up to anyone with quality.

Maybe but still don't get the comparison. wink Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale were all 45-50 years ago, still a genius though. Or is the suggestion that Southgate was a genius in his playing days 40 years ago! rofl

The good news is, this time next week, Southgate should be out of a job and we can get someone in who can get the most out of what is a really good bunch of young players, ready for the World Cup.

Because the anti English sentiment goes beyond sporting rivalry, from Both Scotland and Wales.

If it was purely sporting I'd sit and cheer on the other home nations. But it's not so I don't.

It’s not just the England fans who hate the Scots - even those who don’t follow football can’t stand them.

It's win win.

Either we exceed expectations and have a great tournament in the end (unlikely) or Southgate relieves us of his dourness.

Nope, the FA will back him in his glorious loss.
He is the PR mans dream manager.
