I just don't understand how he can pick players who either haven't been playing due to injury, or haven't been playing well. It's not just about coming back from injury and being fit enough to play, it's about being match sharp and in form. Henderson, McGuire, TAA and Sterling shouldn't be anywhere near the final squad.

None of those apply to TAA.

The team's out then, what's your best guess as to the formation.

I think this is 4-2-3-1.

Pickford
Trent - Coady - Mings - Trippier
Rice - Bellingham
Saka - Lingard - Grealish
Kane

Or Saka might be part of a three man midfield with three up front maybe.

I can't help but feel after the World Cup expectations are unrealistically high from a lot of people and we'll be looking at another inquest into an embarrassment after the Euros. Would love to be proven wrong mind you. biggrin

Can't make it up, although assume he's (JL) first reserve when someone inevitably drops out before tourno KO.

Official teamsheet suggests.....

Grealish - Rice - Bellingham
Lingard - Kane - Saka

I think GS believes that either Sancho or Henderson isn’t going to make so that explains tonight’s line up.

Wouldn’t you play Henderson tonight to get him some game time if he was fit?

And Hendo is touch and go. I don't get it, taking players who aren't fit. There must be people who can do the job as well who are fit!

Well on the positive side for once, Trent and Tripper seem to have started brightly.

Take Grealish off now. I’m amazed the Austrians haven’t already seriously injured him, I’ve counted 3 stonewall yellows on him already.

^^^ 100% by which I meant take Grealish off.

They are beginning to get into it. Concerning.

Kane's having a stinker, probably tired after trying to drag Spurs into Europe.
All very turgid at the moment. Need some changes.
Lingard & Grealish best players on the pitch.
