Ok my elderly father has had his catalytic converter stolen of is 2006 Renault 1.6 petrol Kangoo

In doing so they have taken one of lambda sensor and rendered the rest of the exhaust kaput, so it needs a full exhaust, cat and sensor.

Looking about at the usual car places like GSG, Euro ETC some list the cat but when you email and check the fitment they dont fit OR they say it has not been made yet, same with Ebay

Renault want £600 + vat for the cat but a possible 6 weeks wait, this got me looking at a universal cat and making up the section.

A Mot tester friend said it has to be a type approved one, anyone every fitted such a cat to a normal road car ?

Get yourself on the Renault Kangoo Facebook pages. There’s always Kangoos being broken on there. I suspect a Clio one could be adapted to fit, although I am aware of the transmission tunnel for the prop shaft on the Kangoo.

Can be an issue with pattern cats.
Will pass an MOT straight after fitting but may not the following year.
Both IME and that of my usual tester who I've used for years. Said he sees it a lot.
Had this with 306 pattern cat on my son's car a few years ago, fitted it, passed then failed badly the next time. Repairing & refitting the genuine cat reduced the emissions to virtually nil

The currently high price of the metals used in cats has led to dramatically reduced quality in pattern parts.

That has been true for over 10 years now, did the above around 12 years ago & got 1 year out of it.
