Just looking at previous PL final standings. 65 pts - the max we can get - would get us 5th place in 8 of the last 20 seasons. Only 5 times has 70 or more been needed to get 5th. 4 times 64 pts and below has been enough.
So most seasons it's in the low to mid 60s. So from that POV, we're not really any worse than the majority of 5th place finishes - yet. Nobody has finished 5th on 59 in that time - they've needed at least 60.
Too tired to do any real stats on that but link below if you want to look:

Looking more and more likely Ali will be off in the Summer to Juventus. A well respected Brazilian paper is now saying he's in advanced negotiations.
I guess with him seemingly missing half of the last couple of seasons, my head says it's a good time to get a fee for him while we still can. But I go back to Clem in terms of goalies, and Ali is the best we've had, even over Clem.
Honestly can't see with all this turnover this summer, how next season will be anything that positive. Certainly not as positive as Slot was claiming.

Ali s the best 1v1 keeper I ve seen play for us but he needed to be as we ve tended to play with a very high line throughout his time he s also the best I ve ever seen in the Prem era with the ball at his feet.
I think the best ever to play for us tag is more difficult as different eras required different types of keeper.
Be another departure that hurts, but probably the right time given fitness and wages if he wasn t so injury prone he could probably have played another full contract.

We will need a keeper to come in and really challenge Mamar for the No. 1 position. Much like Raya did when Ramsdale was Arsenal's first choice. We need healthy competition in every position. A part of the reason Gakpo has slipped this season is the lack of competition for his position. Diaz kept him honest last year.

I only say "best" as in "not feeling worried when the opponents attack". Clem was a totally different keeper, but as you say - a very different set of skills needed now.I think the best ever to play for us tag is more difficult as different eras required different types of keeper.

Gakpo's partner had their first kid last summer i think too. I suspect he's not quite 100% at the races now. Agreed on the other GK position - all the talk is that if Ali goes we will be bringing another keeper in to challenge for the #1 spot. Who knows. Stopped looking forward to much at all around LFC right now.
Just reading an article on TIA about how Elliott has been treated this season. They claim that Villa made their minds up fairly early they no longer wanted to go through with the deal and wouldn't be playing him - and that they approached LFC multiple times during the season but we were happy for him to rot while Villa paid his wages. Damaging a kid's career like that in an argument over money. Pretty shameful really, especially given the lack of form/multiple injuries we've had this season. And we now have a player worth far less than he was 12 months ago.

Wasn't impressed when Slot basically refused to talk about him and said, "He's a Villa player, speak to them".
Pretty shameful.
Yeah, whatever discussions were going on, clearly he didn't want anything to do with talking about it. Doesn't show him or Hughes in a good light.Pretty shameful.

Slot needs to go- I keep hoping it will happen in season, but it surely has to happen next season. I doubt with slot at the helm come August there will be any excitement at the club. Thankfully we have the World Cup!
You have to wonder if the others are supporting Slot because they don’t want to get the blame focused on them. It’s too early to say, it feels a bit like we are heading down the route of United. Throwing big money at players without a good plan, not really the right setup higher up the club, and holding onto a poor manager who the players don’t believe in. We’ll have another few seasons minimum with issues because so many players still need replacing.

Several weeks of that asshat Infantino with his tongue down Trump's pants again. Yay! Nauseating b
ds, the pair of them. Unfortunately I don't really have much stake in international teams these days but hopefully 1 of the countries will grab me and make it interesting at least. Need the diversion, for sure. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
