As much as I love Chiesa, Darwin would offer more, as a starter or impact sub.

If you watch the way Iraola's forwards played at Bournemouth, Darwin looks tailor made for the job. Fast, physical, high pressing from the CF is going to be the order of the day from the look of it.

Depends if you want crosses or him cutting inside on his stronger foot? He's looked good off the left for us this season.

Elliot could potentially offer a rotation option at CAM as has a good range of passing and eye for goal.

Lets take nothing from that game, it was a warm up against NZ where the whole team were replaced at half time! If you look at his performance you will see that it is not comparable to a normal PL MOTM.

TBF he's strong on both feet despite his age so could happily rotate on either side of the pitch, as unlike Gakpo can beat his man inside or oustide.

With the WC and ridiculous numbers being thrown around this summer was always going to be silly season. Then add a number of big club elections going on with posturing from candidates and here we are.

The Diomande deal a perfect example, £100m+ for a 19 year old with one season in a top 5 league is utterly ridiculous on the face of it, but as with the stock market everyone appears to be terrified of missing out on the next big thing so throwing money around. This kind of move worries me as with the penchant for players to run down contracts increasing it's a lot of money to spend to develop a young player until his prime years, and then lose him for nothing to the usual suspects.

We should find out more when the window officially opens on Monday you would hope, will be interesting to see who's willing to go big before the WC really gets going.

I'd genuinely be more excited if we bought a few players I've never heard of for not much money.

Having said that I don't really follow European football so I'd never heard of Diomande until he was linked to us

I should probably pay more attention as if I'm listening to a match on the radio I've got no idea who half the players play for if it doesn't involve us!

Looks a very exciting prospect I agree, but very difficult to say he's worth it without seeing him play at the level. Massive risk/reward potential and looking forward to seeing him tear it up in the WC, their game against Germany next Saturday looks well worth a watch..

That's what Brighton/Bournemouth/Brentford do but is not our model. They can afford to take the risk as lower expectations and potential for a significant financial windfall after 12/24 months is their model.

Always seems a bit of a risk to splash 100million plus on a player as well.

The difference between us and those you mention is that we also have some established "stars"

They are a bit tarnished at the moment but the squad is different to that of Bournemouth or Brentford

The Olise chatter (which does seem to have died down admittedly) always made me laugh. Guy who gets 50+ goal contributions as part of the best front 3 currently in world football would even contemplate leaving, pull the other one.

Don't know if anyone else caught the Brazil v Morocco game last night but may have witnessed the next great 6.

Ayyoub Bouaddi, 18 years old, CDM for Lille. Absolutely ran the game for Morocco and has that destroyer edge we've been looking for since Fab left. Made the Brazil midfield look ridiculous on multiple occasions getting the MOTM award.

Reports are were already in contact with Lille.
