Yup Ideguchi is playing tonight. I’m starting to get concerned. Our first team is pretty much the same as last season but with 2 loan players added on and Tyler Roberts now that he is finallt fit.

We were abject for the majority of last season and whilst Bielsa might be highly rated he can only work so much magic with them.

The lack of new signings is starting to worry me, meanwhilst Radz is busy snapping up TV rights all over the shop.
That makes at least two of us although I suspect the total number runs into tens of thousands!

The latest twist is that Bielsa has apparently said today he's happy with our central defenders and is only seeking another left back. I sincerely hope that's just a comment made tongue in cheek in an effort to throw the media off the scent because if he seriously believes the likes of Liam Cooper are good enough we've got a major problem....

Apparently you've agreed a fee with us for Barry Douglas.

I'm surprised that we are looking to sell as he was one of our best players last year. He'll be a great signing for you. Good attitude, doesn't tend towards injury and he made 14 goals for us last year.

I agree that sounds like some good news for us (at last!). Still concerned about our centre backs though; Jansson is decent enough but we need at least one more of similar calibre and I have to say I was disappointed we didn't pursue any interest in bringing Kyle Bartley back - an opportunity missed IMHO.

We also desperately need someone who can score goals and it sounds like the deal to bring-in Vydra from Derby might not be dead after all; perhaps there's hope for us yet before the transfer window closes!

Squad numbers have been announced and looks like Ideguchi hasn’t made the cut, other players with no numbers include Sacko, Ekuban, Anita and O Kane.

Vydra has been spotted in Leeds city centre today apparently.

Confirmed today. He’s signed on a 3 year deal. It’s a good start!

Sky Sports now reporting that we have agreed fees with Boro for Bamford. Interesting days ahead!

Great news the signing of Barry Douglas has been confirmed; in truth I don't understand why Wolves have allowed him to leave - especially for a relatively low fee - but hopefully their loss will be our gain!

As you say, will be interesting to see how the striker situation develops over the next few days. We certainly need someone who can put the ball in the net regularly and often and if Vydra has priced himself out with his wage demands I think Bamford wouldn't be a bad alternative. Personally I'd still like to see a decent central defender arrive as well - don't have a lot of confidence in Cooper I'm afraid.....

The Vydra deal is dead apparently. Going off what had been mentioned on Waccoe, a deal was agreed with Derby and him then his agent decided he wanted another £20k per week which we wouldn't do. Hence the interest and possible signing of Bamford.

Barry Douglas seems a good signing though and fills a weak area from last season.

Yeah sounds like Vydra fked himself. Maybe he thought we were desperate to get him? I don't know... I can't see the thought process behind it at all.

People are moaning a bit about Bamford and I can understand that but I keep thinking Chris Wood didn't have the best record when he came, but clearly had the ability. Maybe this could go the same way if he's made the main man?

Give him a chance and see what happens. MB must think he'll work well in the new system so let's see how it goes.

Meanwhile Vieira has gone to Sampdoria.

I agree on Bamford; he didn't exactly set the world alight at Boro last season but on occasion looked very good (with ironically one of those occasions being against us at their place!). If I'm honest I'd have probably preferred Vydra but he was sounding more and more like a football mercenary and if he didn't really want to play for us IMO we've been right to walk away and refuse to pay his over-inflated wage demands.

Bit disappointed to hear Vieira's gone as I thought he had potential and was one for the future; however, I suppose we just have to trust the judgement of our new manager and if he thinks we're better to take the money then fair enough. Just hope he gets the proceeds to reinvest in the squad and that there's a sell-on clause so if Sampdoria move Vieira on for a sizeable profit we get a share!

However, just on the subject of the manager's judgement, reports are suggesting that Liam Cooper is almost certain to start against Stoke and if that's true it does make me wonder a bit about Bielsa. No interest in Kyle Bartley whilst being prepared to play Cooper worries me ever so slightly.....

Doesn't worry me... It fking terrifies me! I can only hope he's building up the lad's confidence just in case we don't manage to get another CB in. If he gets knocked down and goes into the season knowing he's a backup plan we are unlikely to get much out of him.

Good way to start the season, and beat the favourites for promotion.

Well that’s the first time I’ve felt so positive after the opening game of the season. Great performance, considering most of the team were the same lot that struggled for the latter half of last season Bielsa has already worked wonders.

Yep, we had a good start last season but as it turned out those decent early results were all against poor sides; however, I still think Stoke will be involved towards the top of the table come April/May next year and we beat them fair and square. Obviously one swallow doesn't make a summer but it was certainly an encouraging start, especially as some normal first choice players such as Jansson and (presumably!) Bamford were on the bench.

If we continue like this, £2M a year might start to look cheap. The online reviews all seem impressed at Leeds' work rate and creativity. I'm not going to extrapolate a season from one match, but this performance is a heck of a lot better than I feared not very long ago.

Well that was a delight to watch. Some hairy moments in defence at times though. Still room for improvement but that’s 2 out of 2 and unlike last season it’s against some decent sides.

I’m amazed at the difference in some of the players compared to last season. Side note, Bielsa has picked up a good amount of English, good to see him giving it a go in the interviews.

Another good performance and result tonight; if someone had offered six points from our first two games against Stoke and Derby I'd have taken that!

I do think some of the pundits are going a bit OTT though - there's a long way to go and to suggest at this stage that Derby won't play a better team than us feels more than a tad premature!

Only the 2nd win for Leeds at Derby in 13 games I believe, and Leeds' first away win since Boxing Day. I was expecting 1 point from the first 2 games. However long we keep playing like this, and however long it is before Man City / Chelsea / Real Madrid / whoever make an offer for Bielsa, I'm just going to enjoy the ride! The last time I remember us playing like this, we were in the UEFA cup. Seriously, there are flashes of joined up skilful play that would worry some very big teams indeed.

How one bloke can inject so much self-belief and togetherness in 6 weeks, I really don't know. 6 months ago, none of these players looked like they could give a rat's ass, and now they all look like they are up for a pop against AC Milan.
