Ah well, another false dawn. A striker short of top 8 certainty.

Yes we played badly, but what a free kick from Digne, if the pen had gone in it would have been a different story, how Success didn't get sent off for simulation is beyond me.

Fair play to Watford though, they played really well.

What the hell has happened to Coleman?

He was a decent player.

Mid table performance from a mid table squad. We will beat bottom half teams and lose to most top half.
Just to repeat what I said in October.

Dont suppose any one fancied us today , but we have a got some tricky fixtures looming ,and maybe before the derby we were getting a bit carried away, so when is our next win ,

Better pull your finger out or you will have less points on Boxing Day than you did under Big Sam. biggrin

That doesn't worry me too much. We've cleared out some dead wood from the squad, have a much better starting 11 but need a proper goal scorer. Pick up one of those and we'll be good to go.

I reckon Silva and Brands need 2 or 3 windows to get things where they need to be. And we should finish in the mix for 6th at the end of the season, I'll take that in all honesty for a first season with them both on board

I agree fast bug, if you consider the games against the RS, Chelsea, arsenal and City, we have had very good chances in each game and not put them away. Chelsea had two chances against city and buried them both. We are a much better side alround than last season but still a little way off but a proper striker will go some way to closing that gap.

Yup. I'm hoping we can sign Gomes, I've read Spurs are interested and we can't offer what they can at the moment. He seems happy here, but that means nothing these days sadly!

Massive, massive reality check today. Talking at least £200m to be anywhere near competitive with the top 6. Sick of watching and ruining my day.

Proper drubbing. Surprised it wasn’t 7 to them.

Disallowed goal was harsh, could have changed the outcome. Rest of game was a nightmare.

Some well taken goals by spurs, deserved the result and score line.

Thoughts?

Mine are that I've truly fooled myself we are anything close to top 6 let alone top 4, a shambles.
OK the shocker of a decision to disallow Calvert Lewins goal may have had something to do with the battering we got but somehow I doubt it, their 2nd string midfield outclassed us and the class of their strikers is something it seems us poor long suffering b'stards can only dream about having in our team.

As for Tom Davies. Strictly Unibond.

Fair enough we were murdered today by a championship chasing team but only took one point from the fixtures at Cty, Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Making allowances for that is fine but then we scramble 2 draws against Watford and Newcaslte, simply not good enough and in a worse position than we were in this time last year.

I've been super optimistic since the summer but it's back to the same old again.
Where to from here lads?.......that squad is not the Holy Grail we were hoping it was, I'm convinced of it.

Fair play to Everton today. After all, Christmas is about being charitable to the homeless.

What is going on at Everton?

Gross spend over the last few years has been huge but today they were torn apart by a decent Spurs side, albeit one not quite out of the top drawer.

What is the ambition?

I was shocked at this - Everton have spent more net than Liverpool over last 5 years

So the investment has been there

At 2-0 it could have been a very different game, thought the ref didn't do Everton any favours today at all, but Spurs are a very good side as they showed this afternoon. They aren't out of the title race either.

I haven’t seen the game but looking at your starting line up the issue surely has to be the midfield 3 of Gomez, Davies and Sigurddsson.

Against Spurs who are fking brilliant in attack when they are on it.

Suicide line up. Gomez is an 8 or a 10. Davies isn’t good enough. Not even for Everton. Sigurddson is a 10.
No proper defensive midfielder against Eriksen and Ali is just asking for it.

If either Coleman or Digne go up in support of the attack and Son/ Ali/ Eriksen/ Kane counter attack there’s no way I put faith in Keane, Zouma and Tom Davies to stop them hehe
