Wouldn't it be amusing if every club just said fk off and he was left standing at Brentford....
I think that happened with Osimhen a couple of years ago after such a good season at Napoli. He ended up in Turkey.

Ha, well he stuffed himself.

He's apparently about to go to Al Hilal. Wasn't that Ronnie's club?

Anyone else starting to get a little worried about this transfer window? All the optimism and speed talk is long gone out of the window as we keep getting priced out of the market either by PL big spenders who have seemingly endless PSR headroom or by agents / clubs who remember we're owned by Saudi and put crazy fees on.

Appreciate we still have loads of time to window close but thought the plan was to get them in for pre-season training etc

I think we might see some movement at the start of next month. I hope rather than anything else, that all those so called players we were going for were a smokescreen for something else but I think we are just being priced out by the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd. The PL should be sanctioning Chelsea but it seems that they can spend without any concern over it.

I believe the current PSR window ends in June so I expect action from next week. Hopefully.

Yeah, there’s been suggestion that we can’t do anything until 1st July, which flies in the face of Howe’s demand to get things done early.

We do seem a bit clueless though, it’s certainly a different story to when Staveley went after Gordon, that ruthlessness of getting the player we wanted. Going back in for Guehi seems like a total waste of time, and the low-ball offer for Elanga is pointless given NFFC don’t want to sell.

Oh that's a fair point. Maybe there'll be some clubs in similar situations to us last year having to make quick deals?

That's where my head is too.

A lot of what I've seen feels much like media / social media bluster and clickbait.

Hopefully, while we've not spent anything yet, we've been busy doing the legwork on deals ahead of PSR dropping off for us on Monday.

Isn't it 70m that drops off, so we must have headroom already if the 150m being available is anywhere near accurate?

I think we just can't afford the wages due to turnover and the fact we need to comply with UEFA rules because we in the champions league.

I think if we can land those three for £150m, with a few out the door, we’ll have done well.

i agree, that would be a good transfer window and good business. We still need the CB cover but I don't mind taking a punt on a good prospect from outside the premier league as we know how good some of our previous punts have been and how good Howe and the team are at coaching and developing players. Guehi would be nice but he'd cost a lot of money and Liverpool are probably in the driving seat.

Sounds like Guehi is dead and buried now other targets have been mentioned

Avoided joining in on transfer discussions here but agree and not sure I'd want him after all the earlier furore.

And do we need cast offs from Brighton, Burnley and Forest?
Are they coming for the money, 'cos they really WANT to play for us, have a problem?
Cynical, me?
Better to get an up and coming youngster that Eddie can mould into a Toon player?
Just throwing ideas about here.

We need experience and depth in the bench. Those three give us that. Hit the ground running experience.

Trafford is potential future England No1. He's wanting to further his development with European football. Burnley have bought his replacement.

Elanga has had 2 very good seasons at Forest, he's athletic and hard working and has an eye for goal. He won't be cheap as he's only 23 so has room to improve but Forest can probably reinvest in a couple of young talents. Elanga also has 5 years prem experience

João Pedro is probably the one which I'm less sure about. He was a wonderkid at Watford, Brighton signed him and while he's been about the goals, half are from the spot. He is another athletic and versatile player as he plays across the front 3. Eddie seems to want more versatility to handle the extra games. Eddie might also be looking at the Brazilian connection to see if he can bring a player in who is already familiar with Bruno and Joe in the international scene.

We've got the no dheads rule so these 3 must have had their personalities assessed to make sure they're not coming in as distractions.

We need another CB as understudy to Schar.

Stepping aside from the who may, or not be coming conversation slightly for a minute.

Let’s just remember how far we’ve come in a short time, and who is responsible for it.

Trust in Eddie.
