Apparently as in you should/do understand. Absolutely not saying anything against the issues you've faced as you stated earlier in this thread. I completely understand where you're coming from there.
I think the club are trying to re-frame the position we find ourselves in. It's a clever piece of PR and seems to have worked for a large portion of the fanbase. The unknown seems to encourage a lot of people, you only hope that the unknown yields results as if they don't fire for several matches it can quickly turn. I remember the excitement when we signed Elanga and Wissa only for both of them to flop for different reasons. This time the club is banking on new arrivals being the immediate future. The buzzwords seem to be high intensity, hunger, tactically versatile, younger, dynamic, financially sustainable. There's more signings promised. I don't know whether we will see a remarkable change against Valencia given he's been here a week. The narrative is that this is MkII Newcastle. Manager gone, captain gone, established stars for starlets. "Heavy metal" football coming to St James Park. When the curtains open in just over 2 weeks, we face a Liverpool side with a new manager, and players who will want to prove a point against us. Jaissle needs to convince us all early that this is an upgrade on what MK1 Newcastle looked like, at least the later revisions which saw us struggle through the last 18 months. He's got his work cut out.
He has got his work cut out, but I'm upbeat about it. MJ seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and the exodus was inevitable anyway. I am more optimistic about this season than if Howe stayed. I don't think the club realistically could have done more, considering the circumstances. I am not expecting much this season, to be honest, but I think we might surprise a few. Maybe it'll be terrible, but for me, I think we were on that trajectory already. Bring it on.
How many Sunderland players who started the season did you know well. Xhaka, Le Fee, erm ?
The team that came up from the Championship were mostly sat on the bench. The rest were relatively unknowns. Did OK though.
After the shock, fear, anxiety, and depression of the last couple of weeks I'm in the cautiously optimistic camp.
Bunch of young'uns desperate to make their names, get known, (Move on to Arsenal, Spuds, 'Pool etc) Could be exciting football.
Was hoping for a decent No9 signing but if the new manager can get him under control I still think there's hope for Osula.

He gets time but it's difficult to see where he actually is most effective. He had a couple of nice touches but in the main he was fairly poor as was Osula. Wissa came on and immediately you could see a difference. Sean Steur looked great as did Toure. Those two look like starters

Only caveat to that is the likes of Mukiele, Reinildo, Alderete, Brobbey, Diarra and Sadiki may well have been unknown but all had around/over 100 games under their belts, full internationals, played in the Champions League etc. The lads you've signed have only a handful of games between them so it may or may not work.The team that came up from the Championship were mostly sat on the bench. You could do a lot worse than trying to sign Geertruida, reckon he could play all over the back and midfield.
