Technically Sanchez if the rumours are true, but that's obviously more down to the contractual nitty gritty rather than his "true" worth I'd say
What are the chances of goals coming from elsewhere on the pitch and perhaps those areas being strengthened? We can't afford a mega striker either, just gotta hope that others pitch in

Sanchez - the deal City have just pulled out of because it was too expensive for them?!
will be interesting to see what deal is - probably 35 to Arsenal, 5-10 to agent, 5-10 as sign on bonus to Sanchez, plus salary of 15m per year!!
football world has gone mad, and not in a good way

Due to wages, I thought? Either way I bet that he is on a fair packet, or is demanding it anyway.will be interesting to see what deal is - probably 35 to Arsenal, 5-10 to agent, 5-10 as sign on bonus to Sanchez, plus salary of 15m per year!!

Aye the prices are crazy these days; I keep hearing about how it's all going to go pop but I'm just not convinced personally, for it happening any time soon anyway
The thing is, the Premier league has gone potty. Everyone knows to add a couple of zero's for anyone looking to go to a Premier League club. At the other end, you've got Hartlepool, who need to find £200k by next week to stay afloat. There are players who could single handedly give them a weeks wages to secure it.
I was never talking about a 20 goal per season striker. Theyre rare, and expensive. It would be nice if one of ours could get into double figures though, and 2 of those would likely be cheaper than having one 20 goal striker.

yes but he wants to be City's highest earner so bet he is asking 300k, that is 15m a year for 4 or 5 years
so I suspect the acuqisiton cost is the 35 to Arse, some obscene amount to the agent and a nice fat bonus to the player because he is being bought for 35 not 100
That's shocking, isn't he 29? so I suspect the acuqisiton cost is the 35 to Arse, some obscene amount to the agent and a nice fat bonus to the player because he is being bought for 35 not 100

To get a proven 20+ goals a season striker, you're looking at probably £30 million. You could probably get someone for half that, but they'd either be youngster with potential (e.g. Perez) or unproven in the Premier League. Both of which come with risks that we can't afford to take.
So if you go back to your proven £30m striker; you then need to find someone that wants to come to Newcastle or incentivise them by paying circa £100k + a week, which doesn't fit 'the model
to get a proven 20+ EPL striker you need to spend double or triple that!So if you go back to your proven £30m striker; you then need to find someone that wants to come to Newcastle or incentivise them by paying circa £100k + a week, which doesn't fit 'the model
here are the 20+ scorers last season, which could you buy for £30M?
Harry Kane 29
Romelu Lukaku 25
Alexis Sánchez 24
Agüero 20
Diego Costa 20
The Premier League has got to pop at some point. This level of spend is just not sustainable; hardly anybody outside of the top 4 in the PL and top 2 of the other major leagues can afford that kind of outlay. Eventually the bubble has got to burst.
Although, people have been saying that for years....

Nope, you're right. I think I'm still struggling to get my head around how high and how quickly the price of players has gone up...

People were saying that back when you bought Shearer... the money in football is simply mind boggling impossible for any normal person to get their head around. Thanks AK, we may well be on a similar trajectory very shortly. Keep a space free in National League North for us will you? At least us, you Blythe and the ‘heed can have a good few close derby matches then.
We will have gone bust by then and started back up as AFC Sunderland or something like thatStill a midfield of Rodwell and Cattermole though; they just need a good preseason to get them playing to their potential
