It’s also worth pointing out that Isac, Bruno, Botman, Tonali et al were not proven PL players when they joined. So we could be argued to going back to what worked before.

For a club that had all of these £100m players how on earth didn't you win the league?

£10m keeper?! hehe

Sorry that's really unfair on Nick!

If we had a whole squad of £100m players maybe we'd have been able to hold out better!
2030 David Hopkinson promises us so let's see!

Sounds like we are moving away from the steady "proven PL" player and going for the young and hungry gamble. Could backfire or could regenerate a spark in the side. I wonder if there's been a morale issue within the team this last 12/18 months and there needs to be change which has been recognised. Eddie usually does ok with development so hopefully we can see something new next season.
Well, that approach worked brilliantly for Spurs..

Honestly can't blame him at all it's a smart move for him and he'd be daft not to.

Yep.

We can't give him what he'll want - a reasonable shot at winning titles and the Champions League.

He'll forever be a legend at the club.

I've been saying this for the last year or so. Something going on behind the scenes causing disruption and unrest.
And as fathom5 said I think it started with the Isak saga.

He’s 29, he’s got 3/4 years left at the top? We are going to be rebuilding for a good chunk of that & he wants to have the opportunity to win things.

Plus we can’t pay him what he’ll get at the arse. £200k plus a week?

I can see why he’d want out. Sad but true.

Yeh, we all move for the money when it all comes down to it. He won a cup medal with us but there's a chance of even more with one of the big 6.
Unfortunately, we seem to build around him and when he was injured, we began to fall apart.

With regard to no longer looking at PL players, I look at SAFC and their team, only one recognisable PL guy in Xhaka but they pulled off a decent PL finish due to determination. I've often said, even as far back as the 80's, we should be looking for and holding onto local lads who's whole ambition was to play for the "Toon".

Anyway, the Bruno story is probably just media speculation after a chance comment from him. 2+2=5....

Possibly so, Chronicle- I know, I know, reporting that ‘sources’ close to him saying that it’s nowt to do with Bruno guv. Honest.

In better news the Swiss lad is in talks on personal terms as a deal with Freiburg seems to have been agreed. He did look very decent in the WC, to the extent I’m not sure why they dropped him for the last game.

I think he picked up a knee injury (although not serious) but wasn't fit to play.
