Clearly Ferdinand is exacting some sort of childish revenge for the Hodgson Tube incident, and covering himself by saying he does want to play for England (only not under Hodgson, that'll teach him etc). Utterly juvenile and no more than I would expect from this arrogant man. It suits Ferguson for him not to play, and it suits Ferdinand not to play in the same England side as Cole. It couldn't be any better from their points of view. The only pity is that Hodgson/England left themselves wide open to this sort of petulance by putting his name on the squad sheet.

Terrible news for physios everywhere. Buy shares in memorial bench manufacturers.

Shame, even though he has had an amazing career, I can't help but feel he never quite realised his true potential, he could have been one of the best ever.

Same feeling here. He was sensational in his early career, but injuries took their toll. Should've been Englands all time leading scorer.

Sad to hear about Michael Owen. One of my favourite footballers, wish him the best of luck!

Not at all chap, i just feel people will just remember all the tty things he's done in his career rather than remember him as the great player he was.

Roy has given him the opportunity to man up & play for his country & endear himself to the English public, oh well it's his choice i suppose

Represent your country when they need you in a World Cup qualifier or go to Qatar and pretend to be Gary Neville?

Only a censored would choose the latter.

United players are always hated and under appreciated by the morons who support the Engand national team. I do wonder why any of them even bother playing for the total boring dross that is the national side. I'm sure that when Rio retires he will look at his cabinet full of medals, and memories of having payed for the biggest club in football and won't give a second thought to what the ABU nation thinks of him.

Let's not forget that Hodgson rejected Rio in favour of Terry, tells a man on the tube Rio has no future with England and doesn't have the decency to make personal contact with Rio first. Then when Hodgson gets desperate he calls up Rio, only this time Rio has the decorum and repect to travel to see Hodgson face to face to explain why he won't join up with the squad.

But hey ho as usual let's not let the facts get in the way of an ABU misinformed rant.
