If it is you will need to go to a friendly MOT station.
If it isn't fully decat and you still have all 3 cats in place you will need either to change the Lambda sensor or MAF sensor. Your car should still get through with one cat in place therefore it's unlikely that all 3 cats are faulty. I suspect a sensor issue. At the outset it could even be a MAP sensor or injector problem. If it's running rich during idle/closed loop running come MOT time it won't get through.
More accurate to tell what the problem is hooking up either a main dealers SSM diagnostic kit or an independent subaru tuner's laptop.

Had to bite the bullet in the end and bought a whole system off a bug at my local breakers.
Having a retest on monday so shouldnt have any problems.
Completely forgot that my fully de-catted system would cause issues. Sounds nice though.
Now off to spend the weekend being economical in a nice little smartcar!

A decat wouldn't have got you through the emissions test last year bud as the rules haven't changed for them. Did you take it to a different garage this year?Hope you get it sorted Monday!

Towards the end. It seems if a car came wit a cat a cat needs to be present. But it seems open to interpretation as to whether it needs to be the original one. If it had to be the original, the this has just killed off all aftermarket full systems with sports cats...

straight-through stainless steel system with japspeed rear silencer, and, also had it re-mapped. It's only got the up-pipe cat still on but passed the new emission test without any issues. The tester said any MOT as of January 2012 will be tested under the new emission reg's. He didn't seem to think any exhaust de-cat mods would be an issue, but again, it all depends on what car you have. Typical. No clear rules by the Ministry, again.
How does that CAT rule work with imports?
My 1994 JDM Celica GTFOUR has a decat, and for the emissions test it only has to pass a non-cat emission test as they don't have the emissions data for it as it isn't a UK model....can they say it shoul dhave a CAT or can I argue they don't know that as it is an import??

I think it depends on what the model report for this vehicle says. Logic tells me that if it originally had a cat it should have a cat now for the MOT but if it's been tested under the pre-cat emissions ruling it would be reasonable to assume no cat is currently required!!
See what the model report says if you can get hold of one.
