Hi guys,
This topic has probably been seen before, but here goes.

I am wanting a major service done on my Subaru and also looking to add a couple of mods at the same time, ie. ECU remap, boost gauge and some other stuff if i have some pennies left.

Can anyone recommend a reputable mechanic that could carry out this work in East London, Hertfordshire or even as far as Essex. I am staying in Bow in East London, however am whiling to travel if you guys can recommend some one good.

Many thanks in advance.

Have the mechanical work done by a Subaru specialist that maybe has a tuner that remaps for them, alternatively get the remap done by a reputable Open Source specialist tuner to keep mapping costs down.

There are one or two reputable tuners about whether you choose Ecutek or Open Source. Whoever you go with don't fall for the "it just takes a couple of hours to remap" nonsense because it takes longer than two hours to map a car properly and thoroughly, rolling road or no rolling road.

Minimum half a day at least if there are no problems or hit too many performance brick walls, then you'll get the car back as good as it can be for the mods you've done. It might even take longer (a day) if there are things to diagnose/put right like dodgy sensors, boost/vacuum leaks or fueling issues.

Good honest chap. However, he does not do remaps. I would get your mods fitted then go and have it mapped separately.

Thanks for the replies..
Scoobie WRX it seems you know your stuff with regards to remapping and i will bear in mind the points you have made.

I have heard good things about extreme scoobies also, so will probably look to go to them.

I am really wanting to add a couple of gauges and am struggling to find a place that will install them for me.

Thanks again guys.

You should be able to do most gauges yourself, however like everyone else time is often a problem.

I have a customer the other side of the Blackwall tunnel coming to me on Saturday to have some work done, i will ask him who he knows your neck of the woods that could fit them for you. He's quite handy with a spanner and does most of his own fitting etc.... I'll see what he says.

Paul at Extreme fitted the gauges in my Forester while it was in for a service a while back...very reasonable price.

You might be as well to go west to someone like Eurospec or Power Engineering Uxbridge way.

was going to suggest Eurospec for the OP too. bit of a trek (but easier now they have moved into guilford)

been using Ben and Mark for all my jap cars for the last 6 years. their resident tame frenchman Romain is an excellant mapper and the in house dyno-dynamics rolling road is pretty useful.

give them a call. well worth the travel (100 mile round trip for me).
