Hi folks, I've been looking to order a timing belt kit for my '99 uk turbo.

Where is the best option to go with and where to get it?

I've had a look on flat four, roger clark motorsport import car parts etc etc and the prices and options available differ quite a bit.

There's genuine subaru, sti, dayco, gates, cosworth and numerous other options of belts and to be honest I'm just a bit bamboozled now.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

FFS.....Don't go anywhere near Flat4online, whatever you do!! eek

If you are doing just a straightforward cam belt change and service, OEM quality will do.

If you have a standard motor then all these other wonderful belts from manufacturers like Cosworth will be overpriced for what you want and of no more benefit that any of the other manufacturers belts.

You don't need a singing and dancing Kevlar belt finished in the finest Llama scrotum fibre if your engine isn't well/highly modified and requires the extra strength and reliability of the higher end belts.

Go to any of the specialists and get a few prices. I realise you want good quality product as we all do, and for the most part that's exactly what you'll get.

Thanks for the info.
Are the dayco ones any good? Seen a few people warning to stay clear but never give a reason why

I and hundreds of others have many good reasons for never wanting to deal with Flat4online or any of the different websites/iterations of Flat4 run by this very same individual ever again. I've made my recommendation there, it's down to you if you deal with Flat4 and later wish you hadn't. You have been advised.

If you're that unsure about your cambelt purchase play safe and go to your nearest Subaru main dealer. Can't go wrong with that choice!!

With the greatest respect you should not be having such a dilemma about purchasing a cambelt...It's a cambelt!!

I've never heard of anyone snapping their cambelt inside the recomended change inetervals. From what I have seen it is when people don't change the belts on time they have problems. My last belt was a Dayco and current belt is a Dayco smile
