I have two good tyres on the front of my Scooby but on the rear I have two different (brands I've not heard of before) tyres (bought the car this way)
Its getting more and more twitchy now so I'll make a purchase and get a whole new set after this coming payday.

What do you guys suggest?

I have always sworn by Goodyears . Had them on nearly every scoob I've had .
At the time it was Eagle F1 GSD 3's before , now they're Eagle Assymetric F2's .. just fitted 4 on my Hawkeye and they have excellent grip especially in the wet driving
Going cheaper I had Falken 912's on my previous WRX ,they were ok but I found them a very hard and noisy tyre.
Hope that helps.

Toyo R1R for the front (best wet weather tyre on the planet!!) and swap whatever you have on the front now to the rear smile

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric.

All day every day. The best tyre for this type of car.

I was hoping you'd all agree on the same tyre and make this an easy choice for me wink

Do a search for previous threads on tyres for Evo's and Scoobies and you'll see a more clear consensus I expect... wink

Toyo's are ok on a classic but Ive heard the sidewalls are a bit weak for newage scoobs.

Which model year do you have?

Yes if you're talking about Toyo T1R's, not R1R's.

I was very happy with the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's I put on my 2004 WRX Wagon. Lots of grip, well communicated slip when thoroughly provoked, and they rolled really nicely with low road noise. Pricey though at £115 each fitted.

And they are weak on the T1R! I have Conti SportContacts (2s) on after the T1R and the difference is marked.

Look for tyre reviews on the Toyo R1R. Amazing tyres in the wet as well as being pretty good in the dry.

Looking towards Toyo at the moment...spoke to my local tyre place this morning and he has avon zb5 tyres on his WRX. He can get me a set (fitted) for £380.
Anyone have experience with these avons?

Yoko parada's, Toyo T1R's, goodyear eagle F1's all fine, but most of all Toyo R888's come rain or shine smile (If you can afford a new set every year)

I don't like the T1Rs at all, they feel too "squidgy". I had Conti Sport Contact 3s on my wagon and they were just awesome. Not cheap though.

+1

Tried F1 GSD3 and T1R on the Legacy, both gripped well enough but were too soft in the sidewall. Now using Bridgestone RE001/002 which are better in practically every way.

Not a fan of track-focussed tyres like R888 etc on road cars personally, too much grip to have sensible fun when warm and too unpredictably slippery when cold+wet.

Ben, you must get some serious rain in your neck of the woods, i know some of the climate is very similar to the UK and i know the last few years we've had a shedload more rain than at any time in the last 20yrs. Can't speak for NZ though.

I don't think you have tried these R1R yet, bloody amazing tyre in the wet. Cost may be a reason as they aren't cheap but Toyo have a genuinely cracking good tyre there. Right in the middle of T1R and R888. Agree about T1R, thought they were good when they first came out and i still think they are OK in the wet but there are better tyres for the same money.

I know owners that use R1R's all year round, do track days as well as normal driving, one or two Ring trips too, and so long as they aren't abused too badly you can get away with changing them once a year.

Toyos. I changed mine 6 months ago to these all round, and they are brilliant.
