Our 5 door WRX needs new tyres all round. Had the car from new & every time I've had tyres replaced, have always had Bridgestone Potenza.
Out of interest, just looked at an online tyre supplier/fitting service & am faced with many options of varying £'s.
Any recommendations?

I have the Pilot Sport 4 (not S) and they are fantastic. Decent price on 17s as well.

I've got Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on. Once they've been scrubbed a little, excellent.

They like a stiff sidewall - XL is a must.

Bridgestone 050a and Yoko v105 did me well.

I'm borderline getting a set for mine. Considered RS3's but I've heard thay have a soft sidewall though, so don't suit the car as well as they might.

Seriously considering the Michelin Pilots though, average of £100 per corner inc balance etc. Not bad at all.

Used mine as a course car on a 120 mile club rally with the RS3's on, no problem at all in the lanes at..er enthusiastic velocity. I did tear a sidewall on a forest section but to be honest, no normal road tyre would have coped with the rock I sideswiped.

Choices choices!

Hot days on track can be harsh on most things.

Did you drive it through the sea to cool it down?

hehe

I smothered mine in Hammerite before fitting for just that reason.

It came on the car in this case. I only know it's whiteline because the sticker with their name on is the only thing that gave enough protection to stop it rusting!.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's for me. Cheaper than £100 each.

I had T1R's on my Superleggera 18's and hated it, tramlined all over the place.
replaced with Eagle F1 asymetric on the stock 17's and it was great, a real transformation, even better when I replaced the tired old dampers with KYB orignals, whiteline ALK, ARB's and max castor mod on STI aloy wishbones.

I then got 18" (45 profile i think) Rainsport 3 onto my facelift Gev IV JDM legacy with Bilsteins and hard STI springs and again they were great,
I even put them on the wifes child transportation device as they feel that predicable in the rain and not very ££, but that might not be such a recomendation. smile

Summary 17, I would have the F1's again, 18" and the Uniroyals were vey nice. I will never suggest T1Rs from my experiance.

My first Impreza came with T1Rs on it. They were awful!
