I have a facelift model without push button start, mines a 2006 , I believe the 2007 models on have the push button start.

Looks in great condition. Aftermarket rear bumper? Also, front end seems to be facelift but you don't have the push button start. Is it possible it has mix of pre facelift/facelift parts being a late 2006 car?
Good to know. Maybe the front brace also changes too? I thought these were all from facelift onwards too but the blue one above looks to have the earlier strut brace fitted.

Oh bloody hell, I should really just buy one of these if I decide to change my Foz! They really do look good.

So, the choice is now Lexus ISF, Merc C55 [estate] or Legacy tbSTi smile

I could buy one first, clean it for 3 years, then pass it on smile

I've yet to own a Subaru with a heavy clutch pedal!
true, My 2008 SpecB the clutch is fine but driving in stop start shiite does get tiresome so I can see the desire for an auto - but there is no replacement for a manual when the road opens up.....

Since you probably have a budge for this

not sure if they are estate but they are awesome also.

I would drive a ISF and a Subaru and let the car make your mind up, the Lexus will win on HP but for road handling and fun It would be close.

If I end up getting an ISF or C55 now, I think a Legacy would still be on the list for the future...so yes, I think your plan will work nicely smile

I believe the S402 does come as an estate but they are big bucks in Japan so would be quite costly to get one over here.

Yep, mine is 2007 and has the push button start... I still haven't had a chance to take any photos yet... but from driving it at weekends when needed... it is fantastic... easy to do simple trips, but when you feel that right foot get heavier, it definitely responds!

Jamie at Torque GT sorted mine out... and recommended the downpipe and a tune is all that is really needed... probably do next year!

Were the blown engines with over 300bhp on the 2.5 ltr models... I've heard those blocks are not as tough... apparently the 2.0 deals with the bigger load more effectively... something to do with the engine block walls thickness.

Either way... a tremendous car for almost everything... I even used it to drive mum to her wedding! Hahaha

All JDM 2.0 twinscrolls. If you read up on the uklegacy forums you'll find examples. The engine isn't a full STI lump, it's the EJ20x/EJ20y which has a really high compression ratio, an open deck block and mostly unforged internals. It's fairly high strung out the box.

Why do they use the 2.5, and not the stronger 2.0?

All the JDM tbSTIs use the EJ20x/EJ20y, not a 2.5. I think the Aus tbSTIs used the 2.5.

Yes, the S402 uses the 2.5 too.

That's a crazy price, £24k in Japan so pushing 35k OTR in the UK.

Its steep for sure but you pay for the rarity, its a superb car no doubt.

I am more than happy with this however, they are all awesome no matter what flavour they come in.

I didn't realise that. I wonder why.

Sorry... yes you're correct... I think I read the issue on the 2.5 engines when looking at the impreza, and they offer the 2.5 engines for WRX, but they do use the 2.5 on the later GT TS model
https://torque-gt.ajes.com/m?name=catalog&mnf_...

Either way... the car is awesome... anyone thinking about getting one... Stop... and just get one! Best purchase you will make!

Yeah, saw that... was tempted to ask to swap as its a manual... hahaha... but getting more used to auto now for cruising... And my impreza is a manual so can abuse that when I need to!

Any update on this? I think my Golf might be making way for one. Needs to be same spec as yours (face-lift, diamond grey with the auto box).

I have decided to keep the Legacy auto, I did ask Torque GT how much they would give if I Part Ex'd it and wasn't enough. plus they convinced me that the Legacy TbSTi is a lot rarer than the car I was looking at (https://www.torque-gt.co.uk/impreza-wrx-sti-hatch-130520.html). Essentially a smaller, manual version of Legsy!
So I am going to invest in my NA Impreza as a toy and upgrade Legsy with high flow CAT downpipe and a decent tune from racedynamix!

Funny enough, we have a golf as a runaround... they are great fun to hack about in.
