Hi, re the above, I've got the potential to purchase a 5 door Impress turbo. Mature owner, metallic blue with 91k in the clock. Partial Subaru service history and very tidy throughout.
Any advise on value with private sale?

UK car?Rust around the arches and windscreen? Cambelt changed recently? Any issues? Tyre/brake condition and brand? Service history? M.o.t? Have sills had any work? How many owners?

So many variables.

Last week A local garage to me was selling a completely standard MY98 Turbo 2000 4 door saloon with 61k miles FSH for 6k. Car had been garaged most of its life and from the pictures looked in very good nick. Closer inspection may have revealed issues.

The one your looking at has more miles, is a private sale and also a 5 door. No idea on servicing or condition.

Ideas on price...A fair bit less than 6k

UK car, no rust, partial Subaru service history, rest at local non specialist. Not sure on belt changes; I can ask the question.
Will come with 12 months MOT.
Guy looking for circa £5k.

That's what I thought. Maybe £3k nearer the mark?

No rust in boot, on subframe dtc? It's a biggie there.

No way for 5k.

£3k sounds closer to its actual worth. Factor in that changing the cambelt and tensioners can be £600 and should be done every 4 years and being 20 years old it should have had 40 services with oil changes scheduled every 6 months.

I'd imagine tht the "part service history" is about 30% of what it should have had.

3k sounds right. There will always be someone that'll buy it. Keep in touch with him as he lowers his price over time. It'll take time before he comes to realisation
