Does anyone has any experience with this remap on the 2L MK4 Mx5? Is it a noticeable difference? Does the engine rev out a bit nicer? Any change to fuel economy?

Im keen for a bit more poke / revvyness from my car! (kinda want the new 2019 model tbh)

Ask on the mx5 owners club forum and you will fine others doing the same job cheaper with tried and tested results

I had the BBR kit on my NC3, (filter, exhaust manifold, and map), and it was, in a word, brilliant.

On the standard exhaust mid-pipe and silencer it had a much nicer sound, with plenty of pops and burbles on the over-run. It rev’d beautifully, and had lots more low down torque that made the car more drivable. It made the car.

Is this the 175 kit that you had? How loud did you find the exhaust overall? I'll be looking to get a BBR upgrade if/when I get an NC2.. I read on their site that with their manifold and centre pipe the noise isn't too bad, and with the additional back box it's quite a bit louder (which I don't really want)

It was the super 175, now called the super 180 by BBR.

With the standard mid-pipe and rear silencer noise was fine. Not really any louder than stock, but an awful lot more character to the sound. It’s a far nicer soundtrack.

I had an IL motorsport rear box very briefly before the conversion, which I very quickly removed as the noise was far too harsh and boomy. The sound with BBR’s manifold was perfect, so I didn’t splash out for the additional exhaust parts to make it a “super 185”

Ah, cool. Sounds perfect then, I'd like to keep the volume as close to standard as possible to be honest.

So did you retain the cat, or was did the manifold remove that?

I see on BBR's website they now say that you need their catted-manifold to pass an MOT - but is there a secondary cat on / near the centre pipe?

I retained the main cat (located in the mid-pipe), and fitted the de-catted BBR manifold. The car passed an MoT emissions test with no problem whatsoever. Mind you, this was in prior to the most up to date changes to the MoT that BBR reference on the website.

Gotcha. Seems like the most recent changes would equate to a fail unfortunately.. But it does seem you can put together a good enough package and still pass. 200bhp here we come
