3.0R on LPG?

I'm new to Subarus, but thinking of replacing my Volvo AWD with one. Any thoughts on running the 3.0R on LPG? Obviousely its cheaper & more economical, but will it result in lower performance or more engine wear? Presume it wouldn't be a good idea on a JDM car, but on a UK spec model? Any thoughts or advice welcome as I'm new to these motors. Thanks

lpg i heard wears out valves seats a bit quicker , i think quite a few have done lpg with no issues

I ran a 3.0 litre Outback from 100K miles when I converted to LPG. At about 162K miles it became hard to start when cold, a symptom of valve seat regression. I got the valves reshimmed and it is going strong at 172K miles, albeit as a second car for tip runs etc. I think it is recommended to get the valve clearances checked at 100K miles anyway, so am not sure if LPG had any impact. I didn't use Flashlube either, on the advice of the LPG installer. I got 280 miles from 55 litres of LPG. Zero issues otherwise, the car feels like it will go on forever.

They dont do well on lpg so dont bank on getting one to run on that fuel - depending on how willing you are to put fuel into it its a very rewarding car, bank on mid to low 20s around town and high to 30s on a long run thats all you need to know.

I have a 2004 2.5 SE Legacy on LPG.

Was rebuilt at 77000 miles with hardened valve seats, which was 2018. It now has 1010000 (I bought it at 99000, so fingers crossed they do the trick.

It was converted in 2007 so managed 11 years before giving up.

It did have a flash lube fitted, and I don’t know if it was the valve seats that gave up or a head gasket issue.

A Volvo will be better if I toy don’t want to have to rebuild the engine I think as they designed them for gas.

I have a forester on lpg and really rate both the car and lpg. Its a Romano system with mechanical flash lube, drip per minute. Definitely lose a little mpg over petrol. I also owned a legacy 3.0r spec b just on petrol. Lovely car but liked a drink.
