Morning All,

so, due to WFH, a new baby, and a new Prius plus as the main family set of wheels, my Subaru Legacy (2.0i petrol 2013 model), has been garaged more or less all the time since March. (Ive only driven about 100km in it in that period).

Anyway yesterday morning I wheeled it out to run an errand and the dash lit up like xmas morning, engine management light, ABS and another light which im not sure about lit up and wouldnt turn off and the cruise control logo kept flashing. Luckily the garage that sold it to me was on the way back from where i was going. They took a look at it and reset it and all was well. They said it was an exhaust gas sensor for the environment and that if i get the same problem again it will be a new sensor for 200 quid.

My question is this:

is the sensor failing down to a lack of use??
can i expect more at this age??

Probably a simple sensor as you say and a abs sensor. Pretty simple fix but I think the engine sensors are about 130 or so.

ABS could be corrosion on the hub ring giving a false reading - give it a clean and reset the code and you may be ok.

O2 sensor - there's two (I believe speaking as an Impreza owner). Dead easy to swap. You could buy new but they are expensive - don't buy pattern parts, as they won't last long. Better off buying a genuine used item from a specialist breakers, or bung some Cataclean in the fuel and go for an Italian tune up to clear it out.
