Taxing

Hi All in Belgium,

I moved to Belgium a few years ago and brought my TVR Chimaera with me.
Without doing enough research, I assumed the road tax would be similar to the UK (wrong).

I have been struggling to afford the road tax here and my Chimaera is currently stranded in my garage.
Has anybody had experience of taxing a car for less than a year - maybe 6 or 3 months?
If this is possible, could anybody give me some advice on how to do this?

Me and my car would appreciate any advice.

I think this could be difficult,when the car is offroad,you would have to return licenceplates,then taxes are not to be payed,
but each time you whant to put it back on the road,you would have to ask new plates,and pay 30 euro's I believe +roadtaxes,drive it for a few months,return plates,,,,I am not sure if there is another way,unless the car is 25 years old,and you register it as an oldtimercar,

That's exactly what I do.
I send my plates back in october and take new ones for april or may, depend on the weather.

Good move Ken,
It seems a sensible way of getting some fun out of the car, and if our government keeps on this model of taxation model, we will all be going this way.
Just got my Belgian plates and should have my car on the road next week

You will have to pay the full year amount, but when you return the plates, they will reimburse you for the rest of the months. It will probably take some time tough, before you'll see the money.

just leave the Chim registered in the UK
My TVRs have Dutch registration
