Saw it last night as well, absolutely magnificent.
The only slight wrinkle I have was how they cut the landing sequence down so heavily, I would've liked to have seen a little more of the engine light and orientation sequence. But that's a very, very minor quibble with a tremendous effort. Will definitely buy when it's out on disk.
The aforementioned BBC World Service podcast "Thirteen Minutes to the Moon" will be airing, as their final episode, a completely unedited recording of the entire descent. The penultimate episode will be that recording with commentary. The only slight wrinkle I have was how they cut the landing sequence down so heavily, I would've liked to have seen a little more of the engine light and orientation sequence. But that's a very, very minor quibble with a tremendous effort. Will definitely buy when it's out on disk.

Normally I wait a year and watch it at home Very occasionally a film like this one comes out that I simply have to see straight away.
It's worth it. kuro said:
It's the only film I've ever been to where the audience was dead silent throughout and gave a round of applause at the end.
I had a similar experience at an anniversary screening of 2001: A space odyssey.I think this type of film attracts a “certain” audience who are there because they want to see it, therefore act appropriately to others not to disturb their enjoyment too.
Here's NBC News TV's original full coverage of the Apollo 11 launch:

I had the same on the way back from Orlando last year. A window seat on the left as we flew just south of the launch complexes. I could identify it all, but my phone & camera were up in the locker.
Funnily enough on the way from Gatwick to Florida I also had a window seat and we flew just south of where I live. Gave it a wave of course.
Other than that, window seats are just the worst for long flights.I will go for Isle next time.
Have a good holiday.

Is "Apollo 11: First Steps edition" is the same thing or something else? It appears to be on at my local IMAX at the moment. 50 mins long with "never before seen 70mm footage". As far as I can tell the Apollo 11 film I think people are talking about here is 90 mins long so a different thing?
ETA: Looks like it's a special edition for science centres and museums on big screens focusing on mission footage. Standard film is on at my local cinema on Tuesday, but the First Steps one is for the next month or so at the imax, guess I may as well try both.

The full film is indeed 90 minutes and it seems like the 50 minute version is a cut down version:Edited by RizzoTheRat on Wednesday 17th July 14:24

In 2019, an edited version of the film, cut down to 45 minutes for exhibition in museum IMAX theaters, was released as Apollo 11: First Steps
