worth inspecting around the water pump for signs of leaks as well. If your sure there are no air locks in the system then its going to be a coolant test for combustion gasses to rule out the head gasket

Typical HG symptoms, unfortunately. More work = more overheating. Get a sniffer test done pronto to confirm.

If it isn't HG, it might be a cracked head, just to cheer you up, like.

The chain driven 2.2s are a known fault.

If you take it to your local dealer they should replace the engine as there is extended warranty on them
