Im in the process of changing an inner cv boot where ive gone down the route of sliding the spider out of the cup rather than removing the cup from the diff. Only problem is when ive come to fit the Nissan OEM style boot clamp i dont have enough access the be able to put the force required to bend the metal tab back to tighten the clamp. Im thinking of changing the clamp to a crimp style one but then i wouldnt have space to get traditional crimp pliers in!

Ive found these on amazon.com but on amazon uk or ebay the prices are extortionate! Does anyone know where to buy these from in the UK at a reasonable price (i.e. £20 or less)?

Have you got enough access to use some blunt side cutters instead?

I have an old boot crimping tool, it's basicly a pair of side cutters but with only half a head each side and blunt edges, the same as below, must be 30 years old at least (like most of my tools) still work perfectly well they just rely on the user to not over compress the crimp.

I'd just blunt a pair of sidecutters if your not going to use the tool often smile
