Hello folks

Just over 2 years & 17,000 miles ago I fitted Denso Iridium Tough sparkplugs to my car in the hope of extended plug lifespan instead of renewing every two years.

Recently I took them out to see what condition they were in. Plugs from cylinders 1, 2 & 3 appeared normal and alike, but No. 4 appeared different.

In these photos No. 4 is on the left and No.3 on the right. The other two plugs are not shown but looked the same as No. 3.

No. 4 appears to have whitish deposits on the ground electrode, opposed to greyish on the other three. The deposits on the insulator also appear different.

Can anyone tell me if this indicates if there's anything wrong?

The car is a Fiat Panda 100HP from 2007, with a 1400cc 16v engine.

I've not noticed anything wrong, it runs and idles smoothly, with no hesitation under acceleration. There's no fluid leaks and no errors or faults stored in the engine management computer.

To quote something I was told many years ago, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and to answer the other part of your post, no there is nothing significant wrong with those plugs.

I agree with the above. I'd do a compression check for peace of mind. Also, can you post a close up pic of the odd plug? Has got any evidence of aluminium specs on it?

The left plug is the "odd" plug

If it runs fine, drives fine...then seemingly it is fine. Quack.
