Long story short, a garage damaged my vehicle and then offered to repair it, see here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

However, we are now working out some sort of cash alternative but I wanted to get an idea of what it would cost to fix.

Essentially, the garage told me in order to fix the small dent (which is right on the edge on the top of the boot lid), they will have to fill it in, then respray the whole trunk. The dent is probably at most 1cm x 1cm.

What do you guys think it would cost to do such a job?

The car is a 2014 Audi A4.

You will need to take the car to a number of bodyshops, let them look at it and get proper quotes. You then have a proper basis on which to settle the matter with the garage. Anything else is pure guesswork & prices are likely to vary considerably from area to area, never mind bodyshop to bodyshop.
You would do better on here giving an idea as to your location & you then might get some recommendations.

The bootlid will need to be fully painted otherwise there is a very high chance the edge of the clearcoat will be visible. Same applies to bonnets & roofs.

I had a feeling I may have been asking how long is a piece of string...

I'm in the Buckinghamshire area. I don't really want to waste anyone's time though as I have no intention on getting it repaired, it is barely noticeable and I don't want the hassle, I will just accept the money for it and get on with my life.

But generally speaking, respraying an entire boot lid can vary a lot then?

I was told the garage would get it done by someone they know who was quoting a max of £150 for the entire job (and possibly even cheaper, he was saying probs more like £100). It sounds a bit cheap to me, I would have thought more around the £300 to £400 mark but what do I know.

EDIT: Just rang up a local bodyshop, showed them pictures and they also agree that it needs filling and respray. Total cost is £240 roughly.

I guess I can send pics and get a few more rough estimates. Please let me know if you have any other body shops to recommend.

If the paint hasn't cracked.....has it ? ....then PDR might be a better option for you.

£200-£300 plus vat would more than likely repair it
plus the cost of any badges that would require replacing

I could price it accurately if there was an image or two

I had a lot of work done to my Monaro which covered rear arch rust cut out and plated/painted/waxoyled, bonnet/wings/bumper painted and the whole of the other side painted to remove some decent keying. The guy was decent, gave me a photo portfolio of the process and was not overpriced. Mirror Finish in Medmenham if you are in the right side of Bucks and interested.
