Yup have a set, lifetime warranty on them is cracking, broke a ratchet after a couple of years heavy use (think it has been hit with a hammer occasionally too) was expecting to be given a new mechanism to go inside it but they just replaced the whole think from one on the shelf, top job!

Halfords get flack on occasion for things, sometimes rightly so but their tools are an area they have got completely right IMO!

Another advocate of their lifetime warranty here. The ratchet failed in the 1/4" ratchet from my "Halfords Advanced" set. I went in the local shop without a receipt but they didn't have a replacement in stock so they checked which shop did have one and I went there and they replaced it straight away.

You don't need snap on for DIY at all.. not even in the slightest.
Quite a few people I know have snap on tools at work and find the halfords advanced stuff fantastic at home, quite highly rated.

My major criticism is they use a lot of 12 point sockets in the large sets. I wish they'd go with 6 point instead, much better IMHO.

I have a large pro set, with a mix of the 6 & 12 point sockets. Great tools, my main gripe is half the sockets are spanners come out of their holders when you carry it with the handle i.e vertically, not flat.

I am taking it back today to see if they'll swap it out. fingers crossed.

(petty I know, but I have to sit there matching 30 sockets to their gap every time I use it. Guy said no one else complained, so hoping they thing it's a dud)

Well, the sheet it comes with doesn't do the job.

Honestly, I'm trying it on. But also not too happy about £200 for them to keep falling out.

I am sure they are good now, but back in 1976 I purchased a wheel brace from them, not the spider ones, it was one with one size socket, and a lever you pulled out to get leverage.

I am not particularly strong, anyway I tried to undo a wheel nut on my camper van parked outside, and the leverage bar just bent, nut didnt move.

When back and spoke to the manager, he turned to one of the staff and told them to remove all the wheel braces.

25 years for Halfords set, many cars repaired, one built from scratch, another being rebuilt. Good tools.
