Portable jump starters
Discussion
Well my trusty snap on jump pack has given me about 5 years of use and its on its last legs, case is battered, leads are toast, charger has broke and the battery probably needs renewing.
When i purchased it i had previously owned one of those cheap jobbys with torch, tyre pump etc and it was junk.
The snap on one although circa £300 has been great and i have always preached its the only one worth having.
So my question, id rather not lay £300 out on another snap on one unless i really need to. Is there a jump pack worth having with a budget of say £100? (Budget can be adjusted either way)
Are any of the sealey or clarke ones up to the job or any other brands worth considering? My business involves mainly diesel 4x4s and the pack gets used probably once a week, but it would be nice to have one that can be relied upon.
Im sure i could find other threads if i searced but tech moves on etc
Thanks in advance
Mat

I bought one of these. Really didn't think it'd be any good, but it starts my 7.0l LS7 and a 60 year old diesel tractor without breaking into a sweat. Fantastic bit of kit, and must surely run off black magic and voodoo.

I have a suaoki jump start pack after getting fed up off jumping off the spare battery I keep in the shed.
Bloody thing is amazing, Jumped my 2.2 Relay van twice from dead. Managed that twice and the sister in laws 2.0 petrol beetle completely dead without taking 1 bar of the charge indicator light. Got the ciggy light adaptor and use it to run the 12v compressor for the rear tyres as they are so far from the front.
Now for what you want you will want something more heavy duty, they do a bigger one for £70. Rated upto 5 litre diesel, mine is only rated up to 2l diesel and me a few other have started bigger with the vehicle battery completely detached so bigger one should take everything you will throw at it.

Apt timing, I just ordered something similar from Amazon yesterday, a DBpower 1200A jobbie (£80 normally got 25% off in a flash sale) supposed to start 6.5 litre petrol and 5.2 litre diesel. Being the tight git that I am I don't have Amazon prime and opted for free delivery so it arrives next week, will see then how good it actually is.https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audew-Portable-Jumpstarte...

How do you recharge them, is it via the cigar socket in car or via mains supply at home? They seem mightily impressive.https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audew-Portable-Jumpstarte...

The little lithium jump starters can jump a slightly weak battery on a new car but won't bring a car with a dead battery to life. At least none of my Mercedes V8's.
I have this and it does OK most of the times. It's got a pretty size AGM battery inside it and weighs about 20lbs.
If you can find one, it's not a bad unit to have.
