99 Audi A4 autobox problem

Hello,

i have an A4 avant auto 2.4

the service lights are on saying i need to give it a service.

however, what is worrying, is that i can bury my foot in the carpet, and it just about moves from a junction.

it doesnt want to rev above 3000, and there's no kickdown, at any time.

sports mode, makes no difference.

it's a '99 facelift SE model

it'd be interesting to see if there's a reset tool out there that can delete the service lights and maybe that will reorganise the gearbox?

i'm quite good at mechanical gremlins, but software gremlins is a whole new ball parks for me.

Do you know if it's a front wheel drive multitronic gearbox?
If so start at the bottom of the first page and weep.
Tame Technician was an Audi Technician.
Not sure if he still posts I haven't been on here for ages but I've seen enough of his posts on the multitronic gearbox to know not to touch it with a stty stick.

I have no knowledge of that gearbox so don't ask me to comment on that.

You say the service light is on, have you had it serviced then?

You say it won't rev past 3000, that doesn't sound like gearbox to me.

Have you tried to rev it in neutral/park?
