I want to get an OBD2 reader for my '04 Mondeo.

Does anyone have experience with one of These for £3.99?

The Torque app seems to be well regarded, anyone use it?

I understand that a reader is a reader and it's the software/ app that does the code reading/ clearing so are there any issues in buying the cheap one? It would purely be used for checking and clearing error codes.

Thank you

I think that's the one I have. Only works with Android, but worked well enough.
Not used it in ages as I no longer have android devices - PM your address and I'll post it if you like?

I have exactly that unit (I think) and torque running on an android phone. Some of them won't work on Apple phones because Apple's bluetooth implementation is incomplete and they use a slightly obscure protocol which Apple don't support.

It'll read and clear standard OBD2 diagnostic codes as well as doing realtime sensor display and logging. It'll also read (but not decode) manufacturer specific OBD2 diagnostic codes. What it won't do easily is read manufacturer specific interfaces which many manufacturers use for non-engine diagnostics.

If you want to use it for anything over than fault codes, it's well worth having the "pro" version of torque. It's much more configurable and from memory it only cost £1.30 or something. The free version is fine for fault codes.
