Mums fiesta flooded (sounds like driving a bath!)

so my mother was moaning her rear seat floor mats (drivers side) where wet - I looked and they were SOAKED. I then drove it and each time you brake there is a sound that seems like LITRES of water is sloshing around under the car!!!!!

so first of all - can i just drill a hole thorough the floor to let the water out (and silicone it up after)? And the hunt down the leak?

They are looking at £££££ to ford otherwise (they spent £450 on the EXACT issue 18 months ago they said!)

Car is 10 years old so no warranty issues about drilling holes in it!

Sill drain holes clogged, get under car, poke with wire, let water flow out. And probably if the carpets are wet plastic sheeting behind door cards may be damaged or missing.

I had a Fiesta which leaked at the tailgate and would easily fill the spare wheel well with rain water if left unchecked, being a tight student the easiest fix was to drill a couple of small holes and liberally apply hammerite to keep the rust at bay.

Try having a look under the car, there may be a bung which can be pushed out.
Newspaper is great for blotting it up and at least you've got some great weather to help too.

If you have access to a Vax, you should be able to dry it deeply enough that it'll air dry.
