2006 Astra

I have a auto 2006 Astra and have a problem when starting ...it starts first time but if I rev it it doesn’t rev and if I drive off it goes but won’t pick up speed just stays at a certain rev and speed for about 100 yards then suddenly the revs pick up so does the speed ?

Going to guess it's a diesel? as it sounds very similar to how my old '04 astra van diesel acted most morning, was a long time ago but was something to do with the cold start injector i think
