I would like to try and change my spark plugs, but as I hope you can see around the plug there is a build up of oil. Should I clean it first and if so what could I use. I don’t want anything falling in but don’t want to dose it in something. Thanks in advance

With the plug leads removed you'll have good access to get in there with a cloth and clear out the loose dirt.

Thank you, so don’t use brake cleaner or any other degreaser

No, just brush away any loose dirt so that it doesn't fall into the engine while the plugs are out.

Assume you know the gapping and tightening procedure for the new plugs and know to screw them in and out by hand.

I know the gapping, loosen with a socket unscrew by hand and then screw most of the way by hand so it doesn’t cross thread and then torque is that right, thank you for your help

Note that these engines use taper seat spark plugs. They very commonly seize and get snapped off in the head by people swinging on them, so be careful.

I'd give that a going over with a wire brush and then use an airline to blast the crud out of the spark plug recesses.
